Braves May Have Exposed A Costly Dodgers NLDS Problem

The Dodgers face a potential setback in their postseason journey as infielder Miguel Rojas exits Game 3 of the NLDS with a concerning back injury.

Miguel Rojas’ night in Game 3 of the NLDS ended early, and the Dodgers are now waiting on what comes next.

Rojas, starting for Los Angeles against the Braves, was in the lineup again after opening Game 2 at third base in place of Max Muncy. The Dodgers turned to him because of the matchup, using the right-handed hitter against Atlanta lefty Chris Sale.

That part of the plan never really clicked. Rojas went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before getting one more chance in the eighth inning against Braves reliever Brent Suter, another southpaw.

He didn’t get through that at-bat. After fouling off the second pitch, Rojas immediately grabbed at his lower back with his left arm.

A trainer came out to check on him, and after a short conversation, he was pulled from the game. Tommy Edman stepped in mid at-bat and then popped up shortly after.

The Dodgers later announced the issue on X, saying, “Miguel Rojas left tonight’s game with low back pain.”

During the broadcast, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic said Rojas originally felt the setback while fielding a ground ball in the fifth inning.

Now the bigger question is whether the injury will force Los Angeles to move on without him for the rest of the NLDS. If that happens, the Dodgers would need to replace him on the roster. It would also rule him out of the NLCS if the Dodgers advance, taking away a player whose postseason experience has already mattered to this team.

Dodgers Face A Sudden Game 3 Booth Absence Fans Will Notice

Joe Davis will be missing from the FOX Sports booth for Game 3 of the NLDS after losing his voice, a noticeable shift for Dodgers fans used to hearing him on the call. Kenny Albert will handle play-by-play for the game, stepping into a spot that has belonged to Davis for years as the voice of Dodgers broadcasts since 2016 and FOXs lead postseason announcer since 2022.

The absence is being treated as day-to-day, so it is not expected to be a long-term issue, but it still leaves a brief interruption in a postseason routine that has become familiar on both the local and national stages. For a Dodgers team deep into October, even a broadcast change stands out, especially when it comes during a series where every detail feels amplified. [Read more 🡒]

Juan Soto Just Raised The Stakes For Dodgers Rookie Josue De Paula

Josue De Paula has moved from promising September call-up to a genuine postseason name to know for the Dodgers, earning a spot on the NLDS roster after impressing in 11 games. The top prospect has already shown why the organization is so high on him, bringing offensive upside and the kind of work ethic that tends to travel well once the games tighten in October.

Juan Sotos public praise only adds to the intrigue around De Paula, especially for a Dodgers club always balancing upside with reliability this time of year. The bat has given De Paula a real chance to matter, but his defense in the outfield remains the part of his game under the brightest scrutiny now that every inning carries extra weight. Dodgers Suddenly Face A Miguel Rojas Problem In The NLDS

Miguel Rojas became a concern for the Dodgers in the middle of their NLDS matchup with the Braves after leaving the game with a low back injury. The veteran infielder appeared to be bothered after fouling off a pitch, then exited and was replaced by Tommy Edman as the Dodgers had to adjust on the fly.

For a club already managing every move like it matters in October, Rojas status suddenly becomes part of the series bigger picture. His availability for the rest of the NLDS is now up in the air, and however the Dodgers handle the roster from here, they may have to account for a key infield piece who was not supposed to be part of the injury conversation.
