The Los Angeles Dodgers are off to a promising start this season, thanks in large part to their starting rotation, even without the presence of postseason hero Blake Snell. Snell, who inked a $182 million deal, is currently working his way back from left shoulder inflammation.
He’s been throwing bullpen sessions, with manager Dave Roberts keeping a close eye on his progress. According to David Vassegh from AM 570 L.A.
Sports, Snell is expected to face live batters once the team returns from their road trip, marking a significant step in his recovery journey.
Snell's return is highly anticipated, and the Dodgers are hopeful he’ll be back in action by the end of May. His recent bullpen session left Roberts impressed, signaling positive momentum in his rehab.
On the other side of the injury spectrum, Gavin Stone, another key member of the Dodgers' rotation, is also on the IL. He’s been dealing with issues related to his surgically repaired right shoulder but has resumed throwing without pain. However, to ensure a full recovery, Stone was moved to the 60-day IL, giving him the time needed to build back up properly.
In the interim, River Ryan stands ready to step up if needed. The 27-year-old had a standout spring but was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City to manage his workload post-Tommy John surgery.
In a strategic roster move, the Dodgers claimed Grant Holman off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks. This move saw Gavin Stone shifted to the 60-day IL.
Holman, who made his MLB debut with the Oakland A’s in 2024, brings experience to the table with a 5-3 record and a 4.66 ERA over 40 games. His addition adds depth to a Dodgers team looking to maintain their strong start to the season.
