Leonard is due to earn $50.3 million in 2026-27 in the final year of his current contract.
The trade itself sent Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers to Toronto this offseason in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, and several future draft picks. But the deal has been put on hold while the league looks into whether Leonard and the Clippers tried to get around the salary cap.
There’s no set date for the NBA to announce its findings, but the case has already sparked strong opinions. Stephen A. Smith said recently that he expects the league to find wrongdoing if the allegations are true, and he called for serious punishment, including a season-long suspension for Leonard, fines, and the Clippers losing future draft capital.

Torre’s claim is that, like Aspiration, Daktronics was used to move money from the Clippers through the company and to Leonard.
For now, the investigation remains active. As of Monday, August 10, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is expected to reveal the findings at some point before the 2026-27 season begins. Leonard, meanwhile, is coming off a strong year with the Clippers, putting up 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 50.5% from the field and 38.7% from three.
