Clippers Pursuit Of Peyton Watson Just Got More Complicated

With multiple teams eyeing a defensive powerhouse, the Milwaukee Bucks enter the race to secure rising star Peyton Watson from the Nuggets.

The Bucks have entered the mix for Peyton Watson, adding another contender to a growing list of teams eyeing the Nuggets’ restricted free agent.

Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that Milwaukee has joined the Clippers and Hawks in exploring a sign-and-trade for the athletic wing. Watson, 22, is said to be looking for a deal that pays at least $25 million per year.

Milwaukee’s financial position could give it a path to make something happen. After its reported agreement with Gary Trent Jr., the Bucks are expected to have more than $10 million in room below the luxury tax, which means a deal could be possible if they move salary out.

Kyle Kuzma, Caris LeVert and A.J. Green are among the players who could be part of a package.

That said, any talks figure to be tricky because of Denver’s side of the equation. The Nuggets are believed to have little appetite for taking back meaningful salary in a sign-and-trade, since that would hard-cap them at the second tax apron. They also are not expected to give Watson away at a discount.

One recent report said Denver is seeking a return similar to what the Jazz got for Walker Kessler: two first-round picks and two pick swaps.

Watson’s value is easy to see. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 79 games last season, while carving out a role as one of Denver’s best young defenders and an important part of the rotation.

If the Bucks do pull it off, they would be adding another switchable defender to a roster that has already changed a lot this offseason.

Kawhi Leonard Twist Just Made This Clippers Investigation Even Worse

The NBAs investigation into the Clippers business relationship with Aspiration has already taken on a strange, sprawling feel, and the latest reporting only adds to it. Among the documents being examined was a proposed marketing campaign that would have cast Kawhi Leonard as a Marvel-style superhero for the company, a detail that underscores how unusual the arrangement appears from the outside and why the league is digging so deeply into it.

For the Clippers, the issue is no longer just about a sponsorship relationship coming under scrutiny. Internal documents cited in the reporting also point to Steve Ballmers personal LLC and a sizable investment in Aspiration, while other records reportedly show an endorsement agreement tied to Leonard that is now part of the probe. The team says it is cooperating and remains confident it acted appropriately, but the investigation has already complicated the broader picture around Leonard and left the situation hanging over the franchise. Baba Miller Already Looks Like A Real Clippers Frontcourt Answer

Baba Miller has given the Clippers something useful to watch in summer league, and it goes beyond a couple of box-score pop-offs. In two games, the 6-foot-11 frontcourt prospect has shown he can score, rebound and defend in ways that fit what Los Angeles tends to value in its bigs, making him look less like a developmental flyer and more like a legitimate option worth tracking.

The encouraging part for the Clippers is how complete the flashes have been. Miller has already turned in one outing with 15 points, five rebounds and two assists, then followed it with 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks, which is exactly the kind of two-way baseline that can keep a young big in the conversation. The next step is obvious, though: he still has to add strength to hold up over an NBA season, and how much he fills out will go a long way toward determining just how real this frontcourt answer can become.
