Clippers Keep Rolling with Dominant Win Over Bucks
The Los Angeles Clippers continued their impressive run on Sunday, taking down the Milwaukee Bucks 127-113 at Fiserv Forum. This victory marks the Clippers' fifth straight win, pushing their record to 39-36. Notably, it’s the first time this season the Clippers have been three games over .500, showcasing their late-season surge.
Garland and Kawhi: A Dynamic Duo
Darius Garland orchestrated the Clippers' offense with precision, tallying 15 points and 11 assists while hitting three of seven from beyond the arc in just 27 minutes. Since joining from the Cavaliers, Garland has seamlessly integrated into the lineup, meshing perfectly with Kawhi Leonard. His ability to dissect Milwaukee's defense with sharp passes and timely shots was evident, despite a few turnovers.
Kawhi Leonard, in his usual efficient manner, contributed 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including four threes, and grabbed eight rebounds in 23 minutes. With the game securely in hand, Leonard enjoyed some well-deserved rest in the fourth quarter, a crucial factor as the team eyes the playoffs.
Bench Brilliance Led by Collins and Mathurin
John Collins delivered a standout performance, scoring 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, along with three rebounds, three assists, and a block over 35 minutes. His aggressive play in the paint, where he scored 10 points, created opportunities for perimeter shooters and left the Bucks struggling for answers.
Post-game, Collins emphasized the team’s unity, describing the Clippers as "a brotherhood of guys that wanna be together, wanna win, that are happy to cheer for each other." This camaraderie was on full display.
The Clippers' bench was equally impactful. Bennedict Mathurin led all scorers with 28 points off the bench, showcasing his ability to attack the rim and draw fouls, converting 13 of 14 from the line. Kris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr. also contributed significantly, with Dunn adding 10 points and five assists, and Jones Jr. chipping in 13 points, two steals, and a block.
Bucks' Struggles Continue
Missing key players like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyle Kuzma, and Bobby Portis, the Bucks relied heavily on Gary Trent Jr., who delivered an impressive 36 points, including nine threes. Taurean Prince added 18 points and eight assists, but the support was limited.
With this loss, Milwaukee has dropped four straight games, all by double digits, and has been eliminated from playoff contention. The Clippers, on the other hand, are riding high, leading by as much as 24 points and dominating the third quarter 39-28 to seal the victory.
As Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers continue to play with heightened confidence, they’re poised to secure the No. 8 seed with six games remaining, making them a formidable opponent for anyone in the league.
