Clippers Add Rising Prospect Amid Impressive Five Game Winning Streak

Amid a hot streak, the Clippers take a calculated chance on young forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. with a short-term deal.

The Los Angeles Clippers are quietly building some real momentum. Riding a five-game win streak, they’ve added another piece to the puzzle-signing forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. to a 10-day contract.

Baldwin, 23, is still trying to carve out a consistent role in the league, but there’s talent there. He’s a 6-foot-9 wing with a smooth shooting stroke and intriguing upside, and the Clippers are giving him another shot to prove he belongs.

Originally from Milwaukee, Baldwin played his college ball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before being selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Draft. His rookie season saw limited action-31 games with the Warriors, where he averaged 3.9 points per game. He even got a taste of the postseason, appearing in three playoff contests in 2023.

Since then, Baldwin’s path has been anything but linear. He’s bounced between NBA benches and G League squads, logging time with the Warriors and Wizards in the league, and suiting up for the Santa Cruz Warriors and San Diego Clippers in the G League. His most significant NBA stint came in Washington, where he played 60 games and averaged 3.3 points per night.

In February 2025, Baldwin was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, only to be waived a day later. Just a few days after that, he signed with the San Diego Clippers and later earned a two-way deal with the big club in L.A. He appeared in two games for the Clippers, averaging 3.0 points, before being waived again in July.

Now, he’s back with the Clippers on a short-term deal, and while the contract is temporary, the opportunity is real. Baldwin brings length, shooting potential, and a high basketball IQ-traits that could fit well in a system that values spacing and versatility.

It’s also worth noting Baldwin’s international résumé. Back in 2021, he represented Team USA at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Latvia. He played a key role on a gold medal-winning squad, averaging 7.7 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 47% from the floor.

For a Clippers team that’s already clicking, Baldwin is a low-risk, high-upside addition. If he can make the most of this 10-day window, there’s a chance he sticks around a little longer-and maybe even finds a more permanent home in L.A.
