Ladd McConkey’s name keeps showing up on the Chargers’ injury report, and that’s become one of the biggest stories hanging over Los Angeles’ Week 4 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
Through three games, McConkey has been dealing with multiple nagging injuries, and the timing has been rough for a winless Chargers offense that has looked underwhelming with Mike McDaniel and Justin Herbert trying to steer the ship. For fantasy managers who bought in early, the situation has been just as frustrating.
There is still a real on-field impact when McConkey is active. His presence can help the spacing of McDaniel’s offense because defenses have to account for him. And even with the injuries and limited reps, he still leads the Chargers in receiving with 12 catches on 15 targets for 183 yards and one touchdown.
The problem is everything around him has been shaky. Tre Harris has not broken through.
Quentin Johnston is still dropping passes. KeAndre Lambert-Smith is on injured reserve, and McDaniel draft pick Brenen Thompson is out with an injury.
That leaves McConkey as the clearest receiving option on a roster with very few reliable answers. If he’s on the field, there will be chances. But from a fantasy football standpoint, he’s tough to trust because he’s already piled up multiple injuries and it’s unclear how close he is to 100 percent.
For fantasy purposes, the Chargers as a whole have become a bad bet. McConkey is simply the most obvious example. And if he doesn’t deliver against Seattle, the Chargers could be staring at 0-4.

Chargers Suddenly Face A Week 4 Availability Problem They Can't Ignore
The Chargers final injury report for Week 4 brought a little clarity, but not nearly enough to call it settled. Khalil Mack, Bud Dupree, Justin Eboigbe and Keaton Mitchell are listed as probable for Sundays game against the Seahawks, while Kayode Awosika, Brennen Thompson and Dalvin Tomlinson have already been ruled out, leaving Trevor Penning and others to help cover the missing pieces.
The bigger concern is the group still sitting in limbo. Ladd McConkey, Derwin James Jr., Donte Jackson, Elijah Molden and Trey Lance are all questionable, and their status will be watched closely right up to kickoff. For a team trying to manage a short-week routine and keep its lineup intact, the margin for error suddenly looks a lot thinner than it did earlier in the week. [Read more 🡒]
Chargers Suddenly Face An Early Season Test They Cant Afford To Flunk
The early-season picture is already getting uncomfortable in Los Angeles, where the Chargers 0-3 start has turned Sundays trip to Seattle into more than just another NFC matchup on the schedule. In a league where September losses can linger deep into the fall, the margin for error is disappearing fast, and the Seahawks game now looks like one of those tests that can shape the rest of the year before October even arrives.
The stakes are even broader across the standings, with the Texans also staring at an 0-3 hole and the Rams trying to steady a 1-2 start against the Eagles. For the Chargers, though, the focus is simple enough: avoid letting an early skid snowball into a full-blown chase mode, because playoff hopes can fray quickly when a team is already digging out from the bottom this soon. Titans Already Face A Tony Pollard Decision Fans Feared
As the NFL moves toward the midseason trade deadline, Tony Pollard has already emerged as one of the more interesting names to watch. ESPNs Adam Schefter recently put the Titans running back in the mix as a possible trade candidate, grouping him with several productive veterans on expiring contracts who are playing for teams with losing records, a bucket that also includes Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack.
For Chargers fans, Macks presence on that list only sharpens the focus on how a restless market could develop in the coming days. Schefter also flagged other notable names around the league, from Alex Highsmith and Daron Payne to Jerry Jeudy and Brian Thomas Jr., which suggests there could be plenty of movement if teams decide to deal from areas of depth. For Tennessee, though, Pollards status is the one that may force the most uncomfortable conversation. [Read more 🡒]
