Tom Brady didn’t need long to let Justin Herbert know what he thought of that interception.
Calling the Chargers’ Week 3 matchup against the Bills from the booth, Brady zeroed in on Herbert’s fourth-quarter mistake in Los Angeles’ 24-16 loss. The Chargers were up 13-10 and trying to add to the lead when Herbert fired toward the middle of the field near the goal line, only for Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to step in front of it and make the pick.
Brady’s critique came fast and sharp.
“He throws it down the middle of the field, but there’s a safety down the middle of the field. Poor awareness.
Poor decision. Throws him a meatball sub,” Brady said.
Emmanuel Acho had a field day with the moment on X, writing on Sunday: “Tom Brady just killed Justin Herbert after this egregious interception,”
The turnover proved costly. Buffalo turned around and scored a touchdown on its next drive, and the Bills finished off the Chargers 24-16.
The loss left Herbert without a win so far in the 2026 NFL regular season, and the Chargers sit at 0-3 through three weeks.
Brady was on the call with FOX Sports play-by-play voice Kevin Burkhardt. It’s Brady’s third season as FOX’s lead NFL color analyst, part of the 10-year, $375 million deal he signed with the network.
