The Jonathan Taylor situation has turned into one of those NFL stories that seems to shift every few hours, and Sunday only added another layer of confusion.
On one hand, the Colts are still putting Taylor on the field. On the other, the team’s stance on his future has been all over the map, with reports swinging from “not going anywhere” to “more likely than not” to be dealt. That inconsistency sparked a sharp reaction from former Chargers defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko, who went after Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon on social media.
"They protected that owner because of her gender but what she is doing is absolute malpractice," Fehoko posted. "How do you say we ain’t shopping Taylor then go back on your word and say 'nvm we’re open to receiving calls' but you now play him cause you feel like you can still win the south."
Fehoko did not explain who he meant by “they,” and he did not offer any examples to back up the claim of gender favoritism. Still, the post captured just how messy the Taylor discussion has become.
The running back enters Week 8 with eight rushing touchdowns, the most in the NFL. That total is also the fifth-most he has scored in a single season in his career, and there’s still plenty of season left. Spotrac lists Taylor on a $44 million deal.
The reporting around his trade status only deepened the uncertainty. On Sunday, Aditi Kinkhabwala said in an NFL on CBS Sports clip posted on X that she had been told Taylor was staying put.
"I have been assured by the Colts that they are not soliciting offers for the running back and that they are not actively seeking to move him," Kinkhabwala said.
That came after Jordan Schultz reported earlier in the day that multiple teams had checked in on Taylor and that a deal was “more likely than not.” Schultz said the Vikings, Giants, Broncos, Bengals and Packers were among the teams that had inquired.
"As the #Colts continue to field trade offers for star RB Jonathan Taylor, sources say the Vikings, Giants, Broncos, Bengals and Packers are among the teams that have checked in," Schultz posted. "The asking price is believed to be too high right now, but sources do believe a trade is leaning to be more likely than not at this point."
For now, the only thing that feels certain is that the picture around Taylor remains cloudy. One of those reports will end up being right.
The other won’t. Fans are left waiting to find out which is which.

Chargers Could Be Pulled Into Bears Deadline Push
The Bears already made one major move up front, sending two first-round picks to Tennessee for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons before Week 8, and now Chicago may not be done shopping along the defensive line. NFL Networks Ian Rapoport reported the Bears are still exploring additional options as the Nov. 10 trade deadline approaches, which naturally puts a familiar name back into the conversation for Chargers fans.
Khalil Macks potential fit in that push adds a layer of intrigue because of his history in Chicago and his status with Los Angeles, where he remains one of the most recognizable veterans on the roster. Whether the Bears actually keep pressing for another splash move is still unclear, but the deadline clock is ticking and the Chargers could find themselves monitoring a situation that has not gone away quietly. Chargers Face Two Huge Concerns Heading Into Rams Showdown
The bye week gave the Chargers a chance to reset, but it also put a sharper spotlight on the issues that have followed them into a matchup with the Rams. Justin Herberts play has been central to everything they do, and the offense has not always matched the standard his talent suggests. At the same time, the defense has done enough at times to keep games within reach, which only raises the pressure on the other side of the ball to clean up the mistakes.
Protection up front is a major part of the equation against a Rams front that can wreck a game plan, especially with Aaron Donald and Byron Young coming after the pocket. The Chargers are also trying to sort out an inconsistent running game while dealing with offensive line injuries, and even with Joe Alt trending toward availability, Rashawn Slater remains on injured reserve. How those moving parts hold up will go a long way toward deciding whether this feels like a post-bye reset or another familiar problem. [Read more 🡒]
Chargers Face A Defining Deadline Decision After This Weekend
The Chargers 0-6 start has already pushed the season into uncomfortable territory, and this weekends matchup with the Rams feels like more than just another game on the schedule. It has become a measuring stick for how long the front office can keep treating this as a salvageable year, especially with the roster still carrying veterans who could matter to other teams if the Chargers decide to shift direction.
Joe Hortiz has been hesitant to open the door on that kind of move so far, but another loss would make the conversation harder to avoid. If Los Angeles falls to 0-7, the deadline picture could change quickly, with the organization forced to weigh whether staying patient is still the right call or whether it is time to start thinking more about the future than the present.
