Rams WR Davante Adams Week-to-Week with Hamstring Injury After Week 15 Exit
The Rams may be without one of their most reliable playmakers for at least a short stretch. Wide receiver Davante Adams is considered week-to-week after exiting Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury - one that’s reportedly an aggravation of a previous issue rather than a brand-new setback.
With the Rams set for a quick turnaround on Thursday Night Football in Week 16, it’s highly unlikely Adams will suit up. And while that’s a tough pill to swallow for an offense that’s leaned heavily on his veteran presence in the red zone, the Rams are clearly prioritizing long-term health over short-term gain.
Adams, now 32, has had a long and winding journey through the NFL since being drafted in the second round out of Fresno State back in 2014. He carved out a Pro Bowl-caliber career in Green Bay, where he earned a four-year, $58 million extension after his rookie deal. By 2021, he was making $12 million in base salary and was poised to hit free agency before the Packers hit him with the franchise tag at a hefty $20.2 million figure.
That set the stage for a blockbuster trade in 2022, when the Raiders sent a first- and second-round pick to Green Bay to acquire Adams. Las Vegas didn’t waste time locking him up, either - they handed him a five-year, $140 million deal, with nearly $66 million guaranteed.
But the partnership didn’t last. In his third year with the Raiders, Adams was traded again - this time to the Jets during the 2024 season in exchange for a third-round pick.
The move was short-lived. The Jets released him this past offseason, clearing the way for Adams to sign a two-year, $44 million deal with the Rams ahead of the 2025 campaign.
And so far, Adams has delivered in L.A., especially when it comes to putting points on the board. Through 14 games this season, he’s caught 60 of 114 targets for 789 yards - averaging a solid 13.2 yards per catch - and, more impressively, has found the end zone 14 times. That kind of production, particularly in the red zone, has been a major boost for a Rams offense that’s been trying to find its rhythm all year.
Now, with Adams likely sidelined for at least Week 16, the Rams will have to find ways to replicate his impact - not just in terms of catches, but in the gravity he commands from opposing secondaries. Whether that means more targets for younger receivers or an uptick in tight end usage, the Rams’ offensive game plan will need to adjust quickly.
The good news? This isn’t a season-ending injury. But with the playoff race heating up and every game carrying more weight, the Rams will be hoping their veteran receiver can return sooner rather than later.
