Raiders Target Seahawks Name for Coaching Role With Ironic Twist

The Raiders' top coaching target has ties to their predecessor's former team - adding an ironic twist to their ongoing search for offensive leadership.

As the 2026 NFL coaching carousel spins into high gear, the Las Vegas Raiders remain one of the few teams still searching for their next head coach. But that could be changing soon. According to multiple league sources, the Raiders are zeroing in on Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as a leading candidate to take over in Vegas.

Kubiak reportedly impressed during his first interview with the Raiders, emerging as a frontrunner in a search that’s been quietly unfolding behind the scenes. The 37-year-old has been a name to watch for a few years now, and this offseason, it looks like his time may finally be here. For a Raiders offense that sputtered in 2025, Kubiak’s offensive pedigree could be just what the franchise needs to reset and reload.

But Kubiak isn’t the only name in the mix. The Raiders have also shown interest in several other candidates, including Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. All three are still coaching in the playoffs, which means any official hire might not come until their respective postseason runs come to an end.

Joseph brings the most head coaching experience to the table, having led the Broncos from 2017 to 2018. His 11-21 record in Denver didn’t exactly light the league on fire, but his defensive mind and leadership qualities have kept him in the conversation for another shot.

Also drawing attention is Broncos pass-game coordinator Davis Webb, a rising name in league circles. Though young and relatively inexperienced, Webb’s rapid ascent through the coaching ranks has turned heads, and he’s been mentioned as a dark horse candidate in Las Vegas.

Other assistants who’ve virtually interviewed with the Raiders include Rams coaches Chris Shula and Nate Scheelhaase, as well as Joseph, LaFleur, and Kubiak. With all of them still focused on playoff football, the Raiders’ coaching search remains in a bit of a holding pattern.

What’s clear, though, is that Las Vegas is leaning toward an offensive-minded hire. That tracks with the direction many teams are taking in today’s NFL, but it’s especially relevant for a Raiders squad that boasts young talent on the offensive side of the ball-talent that went largely untapped during a disappointing 2025 campaign under Pete Carroll and Chip Kelly.

Fans may feel a little uneasy about the idea of hiring another coach with Seahawks ties, given how the Carroll experiment played out. But Kubiak is his own man, and his resume speaks for itself. If the Raiders believe he can unlock the potential of their offense and bring some consistency to the sideline, he could be the right fit at the right time.

As the playoffs wind down and coaching staffs begin to take shape, expect the Raiders’ search to come into sharper focus. For now, they’re doing their homework-and Klint Kubiak is firmly in the spotlight.
