Raiders Target Another Seahawks Coach for Kubiaks Growing Staff

As Klint Kubiak begins shaping his inaugural staff in Las Vegas, the Raiders are targeting familiar Seahawks coaches to anchor both sides of the ball.

The Las Vegas Raiders aren’t wasting any time shaping the future under new head coach Klint Kubiak. After landing one of the most sought-after names in this year’s coaching cycle, the organization is now focused on building out a staff that can match the vision-and intensity-Kubiak is expected to bring.

And if the early moves are any indication, the Raiders are looking north to Seattle for inspiration-and personnel.

Raiders Targeting Seahawks’ Jeff Howard for DC Role

According to reports, the Raiders will interview Seahawks safeties coach Jeff Howard for their defensive coordinator position. Howard has history with Kubiak, having worked alongside him in both Minnesota and Seattle. That familiarity matters, especially when you’re building a cohesive staff from the ground up.

Howard’s resume speaks for itself. He played a key role in developing rookie safety Nick Emmanwori, who quickly became a game-changing presence in Seattle’s secondary.

Emmanwori wasn’t just a bright spot-he was a tone-setter, the kind of player who makes you rethink your game plan. Add in the steady, impactful play of Coby Bryant and Julian Love, and it’s clear Howard had his fingerprints all over a unit that helped power the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title.

For a Raiders defense that’s looking to take the next step, especially with a cornerstone like Maxx Crosby up front, bringing in a coach with Howard’s track record of developing talent and maximizing secondary play would be a strong move.

Raiders Also Eyeing Seahawks’ Offensive Assistants

Howard isn’t the only Seahawks assistant on the Raiders’ radar. Las Vegas has also reached out to wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson about their offensive coordinator opening. Jackson, known for his ability to connect with players and elevate receiver play, would offer valuable support to Kubiak, who will be calling plays in his first season as head coach.

However, not every request has gone through. The Seahawks blocked the Raiders’ attempt to interview Justin Outten, Seattle’s run game specialist and assistant offensive line coach, for the run game coordinator role in Vegas. That’s a notable roadblock, as Outten has been instrumental in designing one of the league’s more efficient ground attacks.

What’s Next in Vegas

While the coaching staff continues to take shape, the Raiders still have a major decision looming with Maxx Crosby. Trade rumors have swirled around the Pro Bowl edge rusher, but for now, the focus remains on building the right infrastructure around Kubiak.

At just 38 years old, Kubiak steps into his first head coaching role with plenty to prove-but also with a clear plan. Surrounding himself with experienced, innovative minds from a championship-winning organization like Seattle’s is a smart way to start.

The Raiders are betting on familiarity, chemistry, and proven development. And if they can land the right pieces, this could be the foundation for something much bigger in Las Vegas.
