The Las Vegas Raiders are navigating the aftermath of their post-Super Bowl head coaching hire, and while the process has been a bit rocky, Klint Kubiak is crafting a promising coaching staff. Despite not landing all his top choices and still having a vacancy at quarterbacks coach, Kubiak's strategic moves are setting a solid foundation.
One of the standout hires is Mario Jeberaeel as the offensive run game coordinator. A Las Vegas native, Jeberaeel brings an intriguing mix of local roots and diverse coaching experience, having spent the last three seasons on the defensive side of the NFL.
Jeberaeel's journey is as fascinating as it is unconventional. He played on the offensive line at UNLV from 2004 to 2008, then began his coaching career at a local high school and as a volunteer assistant for the Runnin' Rebels. His career trajectory took off at Nicholls State, where he advanced from offensive graduate assistant to offensive line coach over three seasons.
His path then led him to Division II Arkansas-Monticello, where he expanded his coaching repertoire to include offensive line, tight ends, fullbacks, and recruiting coordination. His tenure at the University of Kansas in 2015 marked his first encounter with Klint Kubiak, where Jeberaeel served as a graduate assistant and assistant offensive line coach.
By 2018, Jeberaeel was the offensive line coach at Abilene Christian and participated in the Bill Walsh Coaching Fellowship with the Green Bay Packers, gaining valuable insights under Matt LaFleur. His NFL journey continued with the Atlanta Falcons, where he transitioned from diversity coaching intern to assistant offensive line coach, and eventually to a defensive coaching role.
In 2024, Jeberaeel joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as an outside linebackers coach, later serving as a defensive assistant under Liam Coen in 2025. Now, he's returning to his hometown with the Raiders, ready to tackle a new challenge as the run game coordinator.
Jeberaeel's diverse background and connection to Las Vegas make him a compelling addition to the Raiders. While his résumé might not be the most traditional, his potential is undeniable. With the Raiders' rushing attack struggling in recent years, Jeberaeel's fresh perspective could be exactly what the team needs.
Welcome back to Las Vegas, Coach Jeberaeel! The Silver and Black are ready for a new chapter.
