Raiders Linked to Kubiak as ESPN Insiders Share Conflicting Updates

Conflicting reports from ESPN insiders offer mixed signals on Klint Kubiak's next move, as the Raiders emerge as a likely-but not certain-landing spot.

Klint Kubiak’s coaching future is coming into focus, and all signs are pointing toward a potential move to Las Vegas.

Kubiak is set to interview with both the Raiders and the Cardinals on Saturday, but according to multiple league sources, the expectation is that if both teams offer him the job, he’s leaning toward the Silver and Black.

That sentiment was echoed Friday when ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shared that, based on conversations around the league, Kubiak appears to have a clear preference for the Raiders over the Cardinals - assuming he decides to leave Seattle at all.

“My sense in league circles talking to people is that he would prefer the Raiders job over the Cardinals if he does go that route,” Fowler said.

But there’s still a big “if” in play. Kubiak just relocated his family to the Pacific Northwest after joining the Seahawks staff, and he’s been with several teams over the years.

That kind of move doesn’t happen lightly, especially for a coach with a young family and a growing résumé. Leaving Seattle would require the right opportunity - not just any job, but the right fit in terms of both football and life.

Las Vegas might just be that fit. The Raiders are believed to have zeroed in on Kubiak as their top target to pair with quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 overall pick. That kind of opportunity - a clean slate with a young quarterback and the chance to help shape a franchise’s offensive identity - is the kind of thing that can pull a coach away from a comfortable situation.

Still, not everyone sees it as a done deal. While Fowler left the door open for a possible return to Seattle, Adam Schefter offered a more definitive take earlier in the day. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Schefter was adamant that Kubiak is headed for one of the two open offensive coordinator positions.

“He’s going to get the Raiders or the Cardinals job,” Schefter said, doubling down when pressed. “He’s definitely getting one of those jobs.”

So what’s next? The interviews this weekend will be telling.

If both teams put offers on the table, it sounds like Kubiak is leaning toward Las Vegas. But until pen meets paper, there’s still a chance he stays put in Seattle - especially if the right situation doesn’t materialize.

One thing’s for sure: Kubiak is a name on the rise, and whichever team lands him will be getting a coach with a sharp offensive mind and the flexibility to adapt across systems. Whether he’s dialing up plays in the desert or under the bright lights of Vegas, his next move could have a major impact on how the 2026 season unfolds.
