Could Brian Daboll Be the Next Man Up in Vegas? Raiders Interview Former Giants Head Coach
The Raiders might be looking to bring a little bit of Foxborough to the desert.
According to multiple reports, Las Vegas has interviewed former Giants head coach Brian Daboll for its head-coaching vacancy. It’s the latest twist in what’s been a winding coaching search for the Silver and Black - and it could signal a move toward the Patriot roots that have quietly influenced the franchise for years.
Daboll’s connection to the Patriot Way runs deep. He had two separate stints with New England during Tom Brady’s era, starting as a defensive assistant in 2000 and 2001 before taking over as wide receivers coach from 2002 to 2006.
He returned to Foxborough as tight ends coach from 2013 to 2016. In total, Daboll collected five Super Bowl rings during his time with the Patriots - experience that carries real weight in a league where winning pedigree still matters.
The Raiders have been linked to several candidates in recent weeks, including Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores. At one point, there was buzz around a potential Flores-Daboll pairing in Vegas, with Flores as head coach and Daboll running the offense. But that scenario appears to have fizzled, and Daboll is now emerging as a candidate in his own right.
Why the Flores possibility cooled off remains unclear, though there’s been some chatter around comments made by former Vikings assistant Mike Pettine that may have played a role. Regardless, the focus now shifts to Daboll - and whether his blend of offensive acumen and championship experience fits what the Raiders are looking for.
Daboll also recently interviewed with the Buffalo Bills, a team where he left a strong impression during his four-year run as offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021. That stretch included some of Josh Allen’s most significant growth as a quarterback, and it’s part of what’s made Daboll a respected name in coaching circles.
For the Raiders, the appeal is clear. Daboll brings a proven offensive mind, a history of developing quarterbacks, and a résumé stacked with postseason success. And with minority owner Tom Brady in the building - a man who knows exactly what Daboll brings to the table - there’s a familiarity that can’t be ignored.
Las Vegas is still in the evaluation phase, but if they’re looking for a coach who knows how to build a winning culture and has done it at the highest level, Brian Daboll checks a lot of boxes. The question now: will the Raiders hand him the keys to the franchise?
