Raiders Have A Jeanty Concern They Cant Ignore Right Now

Amidst a challenging defeat to the Patriots, Ashton Jeanty embodies the relentless spirit of the Raiders by playing through significant injuries.

The Raiders left Week 5 with a loss to the New England Patriots, but Ashton Jeanty still managed to send a message about what he was willing to do on Sunday. Even dealing with multiple injuries, he suited up and made it clear he wasn’t planning to sit this one out unless he absolutely had to.

“Unless I can't run, jump, I'm playing. Football is a tough game.

You're never gonna play feeling 100 percent. So at the end of the day, I just want to go out there and do my best for my teammates and whatever it takes,” Jeanty said via Sam Warren of The Athletic.

Head coach Klint Kubiak backed that up after the game and acknowledged Jeanty was not at full strength.

“Yes. Ashton is beat up. And it's a testament to how tough he is that he's out there playing today for his teammates,” Kubiak said.

That kind of decision isn’t unusual this time of year, when plenty of players are grinding through bumps and bruises just to get on the field. The concern for Las Vegas is whether Jeanty can keep going without turning those injuries into something worse.

For now, the Raiders are handling him carefully, and Mike Washington Jr. is there as the backup after playing well all season.

The loss was Las Vegas’ second straight, and the next stop is a showdown with the Buffalo Bills. The Raiders are going to need every bit of help they can get on offense to stay with them, and the hope is that Jeanty is available and ready to go.

Brock Bowers Is Forcing A Bigger Raiders Decision

Brock Bowers keeps pushing the Raiders into a conversation they can no longer avoid. The tight end has become one of the most central pieces of the offense, and his latest production only adds to the sense that Las Vegas has a true cornerstone on its hands. He has already stacked up a second 100-yard receiving game this season, another reminder that his role is no longer just promising - it is essential.

For a franchise trying to sort out its long-term offensive identity, Bowers is making the next step obvious even if the timing is not. His work has placed him alongside some of the most productive young pass-catching tight ends in the league, and it has also raised the stakes for future contract talks. The Raiders do not have to decide everything right now, but the direction this is heading is hard to miss. [Read more 🡒]

Raiders O-Line Struggles Are Turning Up Heat On One Starting Guard

The Raiders offensive line has been a sore spot through the first five weeks, and the guard play has been at the center of it. Spencer Burford and Jackson Powers-Johnson have both had uneven stretches, while D.J. Glaze and Tyler Linderbaum have provided more stability as the team tries to keep the front from becoming a weekly issue.

Burfords recent run has only sharpened the conversation around that spot, especially after a rough outing against New England that stood out in the grading. If the guards do not settle in soon, the Raiders may have to look harder at other options, including second-year guard Caleb Rogers, who remains a possibility to work his way back into the mix. Raiders Suddenly Have One Big Question After Another Ugly Loss

The Raiders keep running into the same kind of problems at exactly the wrong time, and the latest loss only deepened the concern. Las Vegas has now dropped two straight, and the offense never found much rhythm in the latest outing, with the running game especially quiet and the defense unable to slow New England through the air.

Amid all of that, there was also a first look at rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who got his debut and handled himself efficiently enough on a limited sample. But with the team searching for answers after another rough showing, the bigger issue is how quickly the Raiders can settle the spots that keep putting them behind before the game even really starts.
