The football may have been back Thursday night, but so was the kind of scene Raiders fans know all too well.
During the Las Vegas Raiders’ preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals at Allegiant Stadium, a sideline video captured a belligerent fan escalating with people around him before stadium police stepped in and arrested him. Arizona won the game 27-14 in Preseason Week 1, but the incident in the stands quickly became part of the night’s conversation.
In the footage, a Raiders supporter in a distinctive team hat and dark clothing can be seen pointing, yelling, and moving aggressively through the seating area. He appeared intent on fighting someone, and several nearby fans tried to talk him down. It didn’t work.
As the confrontation kept building, stadium personnel moved toward the section. Even then, the man continued to square up, including with police.
Officers were forced to hold his arms while others came in to detain him and place him in handcuffs. The video ends with the Raiders fan bent over as the cuffs are put on his wrists.
On the field, the Raiders’ struggles remain a separate story, but one that’s hard to ignore. Their last winning season came in 2021. Last year, they finished 3-14, earned the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and went through a complete organizational reset that included firing head coach Pete Carroll after one year.
That reset led to the selection of Fernando Mendoza, the team’s new franchise quarterback. The Raiders plan to sit Mendoza at first, though he is expected to get on the field at some point during the 2026 NFL season.
