Raiders Fans Have A New Trade Deadline Concern With JPJ

As trade deadline discussions swirl, the Raiders' strategy for players like Jackson Powers-Johnson could signal their next move.

With the November 10 trade deadline now just 12 days away, the Raiders are heading into a stretch that could force some uncomfortable decisions. Whether they decide to buy or sell remains unclear, but there are already several names floating around the building - and Jackson Powers-Johnson has started to draw real attention.

Powers-Johnson landed on the injury report Thursday with a back injury after not appearing there Wednesday, and flagship radio host Q Myers said on the Locked on Raiders podcast that he wondered whether the timing might mean something more than just a health update.

“This one was interesting. Jackson Powers Johnson, back injury, not listed on [the injury report] Wednesday, did not participate on Thursday,” Myers said on the Locked on Raiders podcast on Thursday.

“The reason I say that’s interesting is because, well, obviously a back injury is not something that you want to make light of or anything. But I am curious only because I know that he’s not the starting right guard. He’s obviously not the starting center.

And we know that November 10th trade deadline is coming up. We’ve been asked on this show before, is there anybody that you see the Raiders potentially trading? Obviously all minds go to Maxx Crosby immediately, but I’ve mentioned maybe JPJ, if a team needs a center or needs an offense lineman…”

“That’s one that I’m really paying attention to. Again, I’m not trying to say he’s going to get moved. It just was interesting that there was nothing on Wednesday, and then all of a sudden, he had a back injury and was not out there at practice, did not participate, on Thursday.”

Powers-Johnson was a second-round pick by the Raiders in 2024, and in a little more than two years he’s already been through three coaching staffs. That kind of turnover has made his time in Las Vegas feel unsettled from the start.

This year has only added to the uncertainty. He has now lost his starting job under Klint Kubiak, too, and the pattern around him has become familiar: stretches where coaches seem to drift away from him, followed by periods where he looks better on the field but can’t stay healthy long enough to build real momentum.

For now, the sense around him is that the Raiders will at least listen if teams come calling. If they do move him, the return would likely be modest - a late day 3 draft pick would be the best-case scenario in trade compensation.

Powers-Johnson isn’t the only Raider drawing mention as the deadline nears. Myers also brought up Isaiah Pola-Mao as a possible trade chip, with the Steelers specifically in mind because former Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham is now running the defense in Pittsburgh.

The bigger names to watch remain Maxx Crosby and Kirk Cousins. Crosby’s trade buzz could spike quickly if the Raiders lose to the Jets on Sunday, while Cousins is clearly a possible trade option as well. Moving him would also simplify the question of when head coach Klint Kubiak turns to Fernando Mendoza.

Kubiak has a history with Cousins from their time together in Minnesota, and he has played well enough this year that Kubiak may want to handle the situation the right way. For now, that means Cousins stays in the starting role in Las Vegas until the 38-year-old quarterback gives Kubiak a reason to make a change - or perhaps a reason to send him elsewhere, maybe even to the Minnesota Vikings.

Raiders Depth Chart Reveals Where This Skid Is Really Hurting

The Raiders are keeping their Week 8 depth chart largely intact even as a four-game losing streak has put a spotlight on where the roster is feeling the strain. The lack of movement suggests the staff still believes the answers are in-house, even if the on-field results have made it clear the team needs cleaner play and more consistency on both sides of the ball.

Offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko said the staff adjusts practice routines every week to help the team improve, and this one has clearly been aimed at tightening up the details. With the offense still searching for more production and the defense looking for steadier execution, the next stretch will show whether those weekly tweaks can start to matter in a meaningful way. Raiders Could Get Needed Help Back With One Big Role Question

Jack Bech is back in the conversation for the Raiders at a time when they could use another dependable body at wide receiver. The rookie has already built a reputation inside the building for his energy, work habits and willingness to block in the run game, traits that tend to earn trust quickly in a room where every role matters. After missing time with a broken arm, he is again eligible to return, which gives Las Vegas another option as it tries to sort out its passing-game rotation.

Klint Kubiak has left the door open for Bech to play against the Jets, but the bigger question is how much of a role he can handle right away. For a Raiders offense looking for help, simply getting him back on the field would matter, yet the real intrigue is whether his return comes with a meaningful workload or just a limited first step back into the mix. Raiders Suddenly Have A Maxx Crosby Deadline Question Fans Can't Ignore

Trade deadline chatter has put Maxx Crosby back in the middle of the leagues rumor mill, and this time the Minnesota Vikings are the team drawing attention. The talk around Minnesota has not been limited to one name, either, with reports tying the Vikings to Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins as well as Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, which only adds to the sense that the next few days could get busy fast.

For Las Vegas, the Crosby angle is the one that matters most because it would involve one of the franchises most important players and a move that would reshape the defense in a hurry. Nothing has been confirmed, and these discussions are still speculative, but the fact that Crosby is even part of the deadline conversation is enough to make Raiders fans pay close attention to how this market develops.
