Fans finally have a first glimpse of Nicolas Cage as John Madden, and Prime Video used Thursday to drop the debut teaser for Madden.
The short preview gives the first on-screen look at Cage in the role of the Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster, with Christian Bale also appearing as longtime Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis. Even in less than a minute, the teaser leans into vintage football visuals and the kind of transformation fans have been waiting to see since the cast was announced.
Directed and co-produced by David O. Russell, the biographical drama tracks Madden’s rise through football and beyond. The film centers on his run with the Raiders, his Super Bowl-winning season, and the path that turned him into one of the most recognizable voices in the sport.
Prime Video says the movie follows Madden from Super Bowl-winning coach to broadcaster, entrepreneur and the face of the Madden NFL video game franchise. That arc covers the full scope of his influence, both on the field and off it.
Madden coached the Raiders throughout the 1970s and won Super Bowl XI following the 1976 season before stepping away from coaching at 42. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and remained one of the NFL’s most beloved ambassadors until his death in December 2021 at age 85.
Cage and Bale headline a cast that also includes Sienna Miller, Kathryn Hahn, John Mulaney and Shane Gillis.
The teaser may be brief, but it offers the clearest sense yet of the film’s approach ahead of its release later this year. Prime Video has said Madden will begin streaming on Nov. 18, 2026, as the NFL season moves into its stretch run.

Raiders Defense Has No More Excuses Entering Camp
The Raiders head into training camp with a clean bill of health and, at least for now, a roster that looks ready to be evaluated without the usual built-in caveats. General manager John Spytek said the teams newly signed defensive players have already started building chemistry with returning teammates, a small but important sign for a unit trying to establish itself quickly once the pads come on.
For a defense that needs to show real progress, the timing matters.
