Raiders Fans Are Split On How Long To Stick With Cousins

Amidst defensive woes and a divided fanbase, the Las Vegas Raiders grapple with the balancing act of playing Kirk Cousins while speculation mounts about rookie Fernando Mendoza stepping in.

Las Vegas Raiders fans are not ready to turn the page on Kirk Cousins just yet, even with the team sitting at 3-3 after another loss. But the noise around Fernando Mendoza is getting louder by the day.

An ongoing poll on the RaiderRamble.com X account had 64.7% of 309 voters saying they have not seen enough of Cousins at the time of publication. The other 35.3% said they have.

The poll is still open for six more days, so those numbers figure to keep moving as more fans weigh in. The question asked voters to factor in the team’s offensive line problems and lack of receiver talent.

The response helps explain why so many fans are still standing behind Cousins. In the replies, the defense took plenty of blame.

One follower pointed to a unit allowing 34 points a game. Another reminded everyone that the offense is averaging 27 points a game and said a quarterback with 14 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 100 passer rating through six weeks would have been a welcome sight before the season.

Others zeroed in on third-and-long issues, red-zone field goals, the defensive tackle room and a lack of second-half adjustments.

Not every call for change was really about Cousins, though. Some fans pushing for Mendoza said their issue is not with the veteran quarterback at all.

They just think the season is slipping and want to get the rookie real game reps now. A few floated timelines, with Week 12 and Week 16 mentioned as possible points to make the switch.

Others pushed back, saying Mendoza should not be thrown behind the current offensive line.

That is the dilemma sitting at the heart of the Raiders’ roster plans. Cousins is there as a bridge to Mendoza, but the team has to balance developing its quarterback of the future with the danger of exposing him to a line that is already struggling. Fans raised concerns about the defensive tackles, the guards and the receivers for a reason: those are the same pieces that make this decision so messy.

For now, the most likely path still looks straightforward. Cousins keeps the job, the defense absorbs most of the criticism, and the Mendoza chatter gets louder if the losses keep coming.

Klint Kubiaks Halftime Style Is Becoming A Raiders Flashpoint

Klint Kubiaks halftime act has become a small but noticeable part of the Raiders weekly conversation. The first-year head coach has kept his answers short on the broadcast set this season, including during a recent tied game against the Bills, and the style has split the audience in the way only NFL media moments can.

Some fans have taken it as a sign that Kubiak is focused and uninterested in the usual coach-speak, while others see it as needlessly curt. The scrutiny has only grown because his brief halftime appearances are now drawing attention beyond Las Vegas, turning what should be a routine interview into one more flashpoint around a team already under the microscope. Raiders Suddenly Look Trapped In The Same Old Spiral

A month ago, the Raiders looked like they had finally shaken off the kind of sluggish start that has haunted this franchise before. Now the mood around Allegiant Stadium has flipped fast, after a home loss to Buffalo pushed Las Vegas into a three-game skid and reopened all the familiar questions about discipline, execution and whether the early surge was ever sustainable.

Klint Kubiak did not hide his frustration afterward, pointing to a team that keeps making life harder on itself with penalties, missed tackles and turnovers. The most troubling part, from the Raiders perspective, is how often the game has slipped away in the same places, with slow third-quarter starts and missed chances to close things out turning a promising opening into another uneasy ending. Raiders Showed Fight But One Big Decision Still Looms

The Raiders were beaten 33-30 by the Bills, but the showing looked a lot more like a team trying to fight its way back into form than the group that had just been overrun by the Patriots. Maxx Crosby again set the tone on defense, and the overall effort gave Las Vegas something it had been missing, even as the offense continued to leave points on the field and the run game from Ashton Jeanty still struggled to generate much traction.

The bigger question now sits under center, where Kirk Cousins remains part of the discussion while the team weighs its next move. The offensive guard spot is still unsettled, too, which only adds to the pressure on an offense already trying to get more from its talent, and the Raiders may not be able to keep kicking that quarterback decision down the road much longer.
