Raiders Face A Brutal Maxx Crosby Decision As Deadline Nears

With rising interest from other teams and internal deliberations about future strategies, Maxx Crosby's role with the Raiders could pivot dramatically as the trade deadline nears.

The Raiders may not be shopping Maxx Crosby, but the market around him sounds real enough to keep the conversation alive.

The expectation remains that Las Vegas will not trade its All-Pro edge rusher, yet the closer the November 10 deadline gets, the more likely it seems that teams will at least come calling with serious offers. And after the Jeffery Simmons trade last week, one league insider believes Crosby’s value may have climbed even higher.

Jason La Canfora wrote on Tuesday that Crosby’s name has already been in the trade conversation before.

“[Crosby] was already traded to Baltimore in March, then the Ravens GM chickened out,” La Canfora wrote on Tuesday.

He went on to say the Simmons deal could help the Raiders if they ever decide to move Crosby.

“They may be the biggest beneficiaries of the Simmons deal; the Raiders were never going to budge on what they got from Baltimore (almost), and now it might be more. Debate remains whether someone will offer two first-round picks, but this is the premier early-down run defender on the edge who never leaves the field and generates an elite 17% pressure rate despite the high-volume snap count.”

La Canfora also said a longtime NFL personnel executive told him over the weekend that Las Vegas can probably “get what they want” for Crosby if they put him on the market.

That lines up with what has been reported elsewhere: the Raiders are not looking for a discount, and they are believed to want at least what Baltimore was prepared to send in March.

Still, all signs point to Crosby staying put. He has not asked out, and there’s no indication he wants a change of scenery.

Even if the Raiders could land a pair of premium picks, moving him would create a new problem on a defense that already needs help. The line is thin enough with Crosby in place. Without him, John Spytek would be dealing with another major hole at what might already be the team’s weakest position group.

That’s why any deal would have to be overwhelming. Spytek, and the minority owner he answers to, would need to be blown away.

There’s also the bigger picture to consider. The Raiders have shown they can hang with quality opponents, but they still look like a team that’s at least a year or two from being a true Super Bowl contender. That doesn’t line up neatly with Crosby’s timeline, even if he has long been the face of the franchise.

So for now, a trade feels unlikely. But if the Raiders get hammered by the 49ers on Sunday, that could change the mood fast.

Mark Davis Just Weighed In On The Raiders QB Tension

The Raiders quarterback picture has a little more clarity from the top, even if the timetable still feels fluid. In a CNBC interview, owner Mark Davis said he does not feel any pressure to rush rookie Fernando Mendoza onto the field this season, a notable stance for a team trying to balance development with stability at the games most important position.

Davis also framed Kirk Cousins as the kind of veteran presence that can help bridge the gap while Mendoza keeps learning the professional game. He said the rookie is progressing well, but there is no need to force the issue right away, which leaves the Raiders with a patient approach for now and a bigger question still hanging over when the next chapter actually begins. Raiders Fans Just Got A New Reminder Of Al Davis Legacy

Christian Bale is helping bring one of the most influential figures in Raiders history back into the spotlight. Speaking on ESPNs SportsCenter, Bale discussed his role in David O. Russells upcoming movie Madden and described Al Davis as a complicated force who rose through the organization and left a lasting imprint on the Raiders and the NFL.

For Raiders fans, the timing makes the reminder feel especially relevant, with the film set to arrive during the 2026 NFL season. Bale also pointed to Davis once a Raider, always a Raider mindset, along with his civil rights record and broader impact on the league, underscoring why Davis remains such a central part of the franchises identity. Raiders Face A Week 9 Decision That Could Reshape Everything

The Raiders Week 8 win over the Jets kept them right in the middle of the AFC race at 4-4, but it also set up a much bigger test for where this season is headed. A trip to face the 49ers in Week 9 now carries more than just the usual Bay Area bragging rights, because the result could help determine whether Las Vegas views itself as a team ready to add or a roster that needs a harder look before the trade deadline.

With a few demanding games still ahead, the front office is weighing how aggressive to be if the Raiders can stay afloat in the playoff picture. The deadline conversation has already turned toward possible help at wide receiver, while a stumble against San Francisco would force a far different kind of discussion about the direction of the roster and which established names might become part of it.
