The Las Vegas Raiders’ coaching search is still wide open-and one name just came off the board. Davis Webb, a rising coaching prospect and current Broncos assistant, has officially withdrawn his name from consideration for the Raiders’ head coaching vacancy.
At just 31 years old, Webb has quickly become a name to watch in coaching circles. But according to reports, he’s stepping back from the Raiders’ search, with signs pointing toward a bigger opportunity closer to home. After interviewing for head coaching gigs with the Raiders, Bills, and Ravens-all of which have now filled their positions-Webb appears to be zeroing in on a potential promotion within Denver’s own staff.
And the timing makes sense. Following the Broncos’ AFC Championship loss to the Patriots, head coach Sean Payton parted ways with offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.
That move opened the door for Webb, who is now viewed as a serious candidate to take over the OC role in Denver. League sources have also noted that Webb has drawn interest from other teams for offensive coordinator positions, underscoring just how quickly his coaching stock is rising.
Webb’s coaching journey began in 2023, not long after wrapping up a six-year playing career as a backup quarterback in the NFL. When Sean Payton took the reins in Denver, Webb was brought on as the team’s quarterbacks coach. In that role, he worked closely with rookie Bo Nix, helping guide the young quarterback through a developmental season that showed real flashes of promise.
By the start of the 2025-26 campaign, Webb had earned a promotion to passing game coordinator-while still maintaining his QB coach duties. That dual role speaks volumes about the trust Payton has placed in him, especially in a system that demands high-level coordination between the quarterback room and the broader offensive scheme.
Now, with the OC seat vacant in Denver and Webb’s name trending upward, the next step in his coaching evolution could be right around the corner. While the Raiders continue their search, the Broncos may already have their next play-caller in-house.
