The Las Vegas Raiders are bringing back a familiar face to their practice squad, re-signing linebacker Jamin Davis as they continue to shuffle depth and evaluate talent down the stretch of the season.
Davis, 26, has had a winding road since entering the league as a first-round pick out of Kentucky in 2021. Drafted by Washington with high expectations, he showed flashes of athleticism and range but never fully cemented himself as a cornerstone of that defense. After the Commanders declined his fifth-year option, they waived him in October 2024, signaling the end of that chapter.
Since then, Davis has bounced around, spending time on the Packers’ practice squad, then earning a brief stint on the Vikings’ active roster before being waived again. The Jets picked him up out of preseason but ultimately let him go before the regular season began. That opened the door for Las Vegas, who added him to their practice squad in October and gave him a shot on the active roster in November.
He’s only appeared in one game for the Raiders this season, logging three total tackles. But even in limited action, he showed enough for the team to keep him in the building. His blend of size, speed, and experience still holds appeal-especially for a team looking to bolster its linebacker depth and special teams units.
With Davis back in the fold, the Raiders’ practice squad now features a mix of young prospects and seasoned veterans, including names like wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam Jr., and safety Terrell Edmunds. There’s also some intriguing developmental talent, such as international offensive lineman Laki Tasi and rookie quarterback Cam Miller.
Here’s the current full list of the Raiders’ practice squad:
- RB Chris Collier
- S Terrell Edmunds
- DE Jahfari Harvey
- WR Shedrick Jackson
- DT Treven Ma’ae
- G Atonio Mafi
- QB Cam Miller
- TE Albert Okwuegbunam Jr.
- OL Laki Tasi (International)
- T Dalton Wagner
- WR Phillip Dorsett
- G Layden Robinson
- WR D.J. Turner
- WR Justin Shorter
- DE Carlos Basham
- LB Jamin Davis
- WR Brenden Rice
For Davis, this latest move keeps him in the mix and gives him another shot to prove he belongs. For the Raiders, it’s a low-risk move with potential upside. If Davis can tap back into the form that made him a first-rounder, Las Vegas might just uncover a valuable piece for their defensive rotation-or at the very least, a reliable contributor on special teams.
