Maxx Crosbys Von Miller Reaction Says Plenty To Raiders Fans

Maxx Crosby opens up about his admiration for Von Miller and their mutual respect, even as Miller chooses the Cowboys over a Raiders' reunion.

Von Miller’s move to the Dallas Cowboys brought a quick reaction from one of his closest NFL friends.

After Miller agreed to a one-year deal with Dallas on Sunday, Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby jumped into the conversation with three goat emojis on Instagram. It was a simple message, but the kind that says plenty about how Crosby feels about the veteran linebacker.

Miller had just been a guest on Crosby’s podcast last month, where he floated the idea of playing for the Las Vegas Raiders while he was still searching for a new team in free agency after a one-season stop with the Washington Commanders. The suggestion may have been more joke than promise, but it still gave Raiders fans something to hold onto before Dallas entered the picture.

Now Miller is headed back to Texas for a homecoming of sorts. The 37-year-old, an eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time champion, grew up in DeSoto, Texas, and cheered for the Cowboys as a kid. His Instagram post after the news broke drew plenty of attention, too.

Crosby and Miller’s relationship goes well beyond social media. Miller was an early believer in Crosby, bringing him to his exclusive offseason pass-rushing camp, which started in 2017. Crosby first showed up as an attendee and later grew into a mentor for younger players himself.

Their bond has formed against the backdrop of plenty of on-field battles, too, with Miller starring for the Denver Broncos from 2011 to 2021 while Crosby played for the Raiders in the same AFC West neighborhood. Even so, Crosby has repeatedly spoken highly of what Miller meant to him as a player and as a teacher.

“I can’t do what Von does. Von can’t do what I do.

Football and pass rush in general is an art form. We come in all shapes and sizes.

It’s not like I’m sitting here worried about handing out information. I feel like you learn more as a player by teaching,” said Crosby in a report from Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper in 2024.

Crosby wasn’t the only Cowboy to chime in after the signing. Quinnen Williams and Demarvion Overshown also commented on Miller’s post.

Khalil Mack Just Added Painful Context To A Trade Raiders Fans Hate

Khalil Macks departure still hangs over the Raiders like one of the franchises biggest modern what-ifs, and his latest comments only sharpen the pain for anyone who lived through the trade. The Raiders shipped Mack and a second-round pick to the Bears for two first-round selections, then turned those assets into Josh Jacobs, Damon Arnette and Bryan Edwards, a move that was supposed to reset the roster while giving Jon Grudens team more long-term control over the draft.

Instead, the deal has aged unevenly, even with Jacobs becoming a rushing champion. Arnette and Edwards never made the kind of impact the Raiders needed, and the broader cost to the defense has kept the trade in the regret category for many fans. Macks reflection on how the separation unfolded adds another layer to a breakup that already felt messy, and it is hard not to look back at that offseason and wonder how differently things might have gone for the Raiders if the relationship had held together a little longer. Raiders Ground Game Is Finally Showing Signs Fans Have Waited For

For three straight seasons, the Raiders have spent too much time at the wrong end of the rushing conversation, stuck near the bottom of the league and looking for answers up front. This offseason brought a clear attempt to change that, with the addition of offensive line coach Rick Dennison and the signing of center Tyler Linderbaum giving the team a different look and, maybe more important, a different direction.

Training camp and the preseason have offered the kind of early signs Raiders fans have been waiting for, with the ground game showing more life than it has in years. Ashton Jeanty and Mike Washington have both flashed in the backfield, and while August can only tell you so much, the runs have at least hinted that Las Vegas may finally have something worth building on when the games start to count.
