Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors Swirl, But the Star DE Isn’t Buying the Hype
If you’ve been anywhere near NFL talk this week-especially on Radio Row during Super Bowl week-you’ve probably heard Maxx Crosby’s name thrown around in trade speculation. But according to the man himself, all that noise? It’s not coming from him.
In a recent appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Crosby made it clear he’s just showing up and doing the work-nothing more, nothing less.
“Now that I am quiet, I got people making big statements for me,” Crosby said. “I am in this building every single day.”
That building, of course, is the Raiders’ facility, where Crosby continues to train and rep the Silver and Black. And while trade buzz is nothing new for high-impact players-especially one of Crosby’s stature-it’s clear he’s not the one stirring the pot.
Where Did the Rumors Start?
The trade talk didn’t appear out of thin air. It gained traction late in the 2025 season when the Raiders shut Crosby down for the final two games due to a knee injury.
Crosby, known for playing through pain and bringing relentless energy every snap, wasn’t thrilled with the decision. But the move helped Las Vegas secure the No. 1 overall pick-fueling speculation that the team was looking more toward the future than the present.
Fast forward to Super Bowl week, and Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer referenced that end-of-season shutdown while discussing Crosby’s future. Glazer suggested that when a player of Crosby’s caliber wants something, the league tends to listen-and that multiple teams had already reached out to gauge his availability.
That was enough to send the NFL rumor mill into overdrive.
Crosby Isn’t the Only One Talking
While Crosby has tried to quiet the speculation, others in the media have added fuel to the fire. Kay Adams, host of Up & Adams, has a history of calling out the Raiders-most notably during the Davante Adams saga. This week, she pivoted to Crosby, bringing up the trade rumors during an interview with running back Ashton Jeanty.
“You might lose Maxx Crosby,” Adams said. “Could you imagine him leaving?”
That comment, like a well-placed spark, reignited conversations across NFL circles and social media.
Then came Monday, when Jason La Canfora reported that an unnamed NFL general manager claimed Crosby told Raiders minority owner Tom Brady he wouldn’t play for the team again-and would rather retire than suit up in silver and black. The GM also compared the situation to Myles Garrett’s brief standoff with Cleveland, which was ultimately resolved with a new deal.
La Canfora’s report framed Crosby’s frustration not as a reaction to losing, but as anger over being placed on injured reserve-especially when the move seemingly helped the Raiders position themselves for the draft.
So Where Do Things Stand?
Right now, there’s no hard evidence that Maxx Crosby is pushing for a trade. He’s been visible in the Raiders’ facility, wearing team gear, and making it clear he’s focused on football-not headlines. But in today’s NFL, where player empowerment and front-office maneuvering often go hand in hand, things can shift quickly.
For now, it’s just chatter. But when a player like Crosby-one of the league’s premier edge rushers, a locker room leader, and the heart of the Raiders’ defense-is the subject of trade rumors, people listen.
Whether this is just smoke or the early signs of something bigger remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure: Crosby isn’t going to let anyone else write his narrative.
Stay tuned, Raider Nation. This one’s far from over.
