Maxx Crosby Chatter Revives A Raiders Question Fans Hate

A tough upcoming schedule and a chance to refocus on the future has led one NFL insider to suggest a bold trade move for the Raiders involving their star pass rusher.

The Raiders’ fast start is already looking shaky, and one national NFL voice thinks that could push Las Vegas toward a very familiar idea: moving Maxx Crosby.

Pete Prisco made the case Monday on NFL on CBS, arguing that the Raiders should at least revisit the possibility of dealing their star pass rusher before the trade deadline if the season keeps sliding.

“One name that's not on that list, Maxx Crosby. You were traded, they traded him and then they got him back,” Prisco said.

“And you look the next two weeks, they have Buffalo and the Rams…. If they lose both those games, that's four straight.

Then you go into the trade deadline and you say well maybe we can get something for Crosby.”

That line of thinking comes with some obvious urgency. The Raiders were just thumped 45-17 by New England in Week 5, a loss that dragged them back to reality after the early momentum they had built. And with Buffalo and the Rams coming next, Prisco sees a stretch that could make the team’s outlook even darker.

“Could you see them losing six straight? Sure you could,” Prisco added.

It’s not as if the idea of moving Crosby is brand new. Las Vegas reportedly came close to landing two first-round picks for him this offseason before the Ravens derailed the deal. At this point, Prisco’s argument is that the Raiders should still be open to cashing in if the right offer appears.

His bigger point is about timing. He doesn’t believe Crosby fits the same timeline as a team trying to build around younger pieces and Fernando Mendoza.

“If you're going to work towards the future with your young players and [Fernando] Mendoza, shouldn't you consider trading Crosby again? Because I would, I don't think he's a part of the future,” Prisco concluded.

“I think by the time they're good, he's not going to be a part of it. So you traded him once, put it out there again at the trade deadline.

Maybe a desperate team, see Jacksonville, would make a deal to go get a pass rusher.”

Prisco also mentioned the Bears and Cowboys as possible teams that could be in the market for a pass rusher.

Adam Butler Sends Raiders A Blunt Message After Another Defensive Letdown

After another defensive letdown in the loss to the Patriots, Adam Butler didnt try to dress it up on the Raiders live postgame show. The veteran defensive tackle stressed accountability and the need to clean up mistakes the hard way, with the team turning immediately to film as it tries to sort out what went wrong and why the unit keeps finding itself in these spots.

Butler matters because he is not just another voice in the room. Signed through 2027 and coming off a career-high workload in 2024, he is expected to be a key part of the Raiders adjustments as they prepare for Buffalo, and his message reflected the urgency around a defense that needs a quick reset more than a long explanation. Raiders Blowout Loss Just Put That 3-0 Start In Doubt

A 3-0 start can look like a foundation until a couple of bad Sundays start peeling it back, and the Raiders are in that spot now after a 45-17 loss to New England. It was their second straight defeat, and the first real sign that the early-season surge may have been masking some issues the Patriots were able to expose on both sides of the ball.

The defense had no answer as the game got away, giving up big plays through the air and on the ground, while the offense leaned heavily on Brock Bowers to keep things moving. Bowers was productive again, but Las Vegas did not get enough consistent help from the rest of the passing game, leaving the Raiders with more questions than they had when the week began. Patriots Legend Just Reopened A Brutal Wound For Raiders Fans

Adam Vinatieris latest Patriots honor came with a familiar sting for Raiders fans. The Hall of Fame kicker was recognized with his Pro Football Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence during halftime of New Englands game against Las Vegas, a fitting stage for one of the most decorated special-teamers of his era and a reminder of just how often his biggest moments came at the Raiders expense.

Vinatieri used the occasion to look back on those matchups, including the Patriots championship run, while also tying New Englands long stretch of success to Tom Brady. For Las Vegas fans already bracing through the frustrations of a difficult season and still adjusting to Bradys presence in the ownership picture, it was the kind of celebration that reopened an old wound instead of closing it.
