LAS VEGAS, Nev.-The Raiders used their 11th training camp practice of the summer to do more than just run through the usual work at Allegiant Stadium. With day 15 of full-team camp in the books, the setting felt built as much for orientation as intensity, especially with Las Vegas set to face the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.
That mattered to Klint Kubiak, who made it clear earlier in the day what he wanted out of the night. “Tonight's really important.
Really excited about going and being in front of our fans, being on the grass that we're going to play on. Coaches communicating with the headsets; really important for the whole operation.
Obviously, it's my first game in there. Played a few games on the other side of the stadium, but it'll be really important for players and coaches to get familiar with our surroundings so that we can play our best football on Thursday night."
The practice itself had a different feel than some of the more heated sessions that came before it. That was by design.
With Kubiak working in multiple new players, the night was about getting everyone comfortable before the first real game at Allegiant. For some of the rookies from smaller schools, the moment carried a different kind of weight.
These are 21- 23-year-old kids who have spent their lives chasing the league, and for them, being on that field wasn’t just another practice.
The atmosphere also said plenty about Raider Nation. This wasn’t just another crowd watching a camp session; it was a fan base showing up like it always does, fully invested in the team as part of its identity.
