Maxx Crosby’s Future in Las Vegas Uncertain as Davante Adams Weighs In
The Las Vegas Raiders made a tough call late in the 2025 season, placing star edge rusher Maxx Crosby on injured reserve ahead of Week 17. The move effectively shut Crosby down for the year, giving him a head start on recovery following knee surgery - but it also stirred up some tension behind the scenes.
Crosby, the emotional heartbeat of the Raiders defense and arguably the face of the franchise, wasn’t thrilled with the decision. And while he hasn’t gone public with any demands, the rumblings have started: Could Crosby, after seven seasons of giving everything to the Silver and Black, be eyeing a fresh start?
So far, Crosby’s been tight-lipped about his future. He’s said only that he expects “big things” in Year 8, leaving the door wide open for speculation. With his track record - five Pro Bowl nods and a relentless motor that’s made him one of the most feared edge rushers in the league - it’s safe to say that if he were to hit the trade market, the Raiders’ phones would be ringing nonstop.
One team that’s already being floated in the conversation? The Los Angeles Rams - thanks in part to a familiar voice: Davante Adams.
Davante Adams Checks In on His Former Teammate
Adams and Crosby were teammates in Vegas for just under two and a half seasons, but their bond runs deeper than just shared snaps. The two were often seen together on and off the field, and Adams made it clear during a recent appearance on Up & Adams that the relationship hasn’t faded.
“I have [talked to Crosby lately],” Adams said. “I’ve been kind of letting him breathe a little bit, but I’ve been in his ear a little bit this year.
Just checking on my guy. A few of my guys over there - him, Tre Tucker, DJ Turner.
I’ve been checking on all my guys over there just making sure that they’re good and in a good headspace.”
Naturally, the next question was whether Adams had tried to recruit Crosby to the Rams. His answer? Classic wide receiver - subtle, but pointed.
“The recruiting is in what we’re putting on tape every week,” Adams said. “These guys are definitely seeing what we’re doing.
I don’t sign checks and I don’t make decisions, but we’re doing our job over here by what we’re putting on tape to make it look appetizing enough to want to come join us. That’s my recruiting.”
Translation: No hard sell, just a soft pitch - and one backed up by wins, production, and a clear vision in L.A.
Still Rooting for the Raiders - From Afar
Adams also made it clear he still holds the Raiders close to his heart, despite a rocky ending to his time in Vegas. In an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show, he spoke candidly about how much it meant to him to wear the Silver and Black - a childhood dream come true.
That said, not all of Raider Nation may feel the same way. Some fans still bristle at how things ended with Adams, and his comments about Crosby - even if they weren’t overt recruitment - could stir more frustration among the faithful.
But let’s be clear: Adams isn’t trying to pry Crosby out of Vegas. He’s simply staying connected with a friend and former teammate - someone who’s earned the right to weigh his options.
The Ball’s in Crosby’s Court
As the NFL calendar inches closer to the new league year, Crosby’s status will be one of the more intriguing storylines to watch. He’s under contract, yes - but that doesn’t mean the Raiders won’t field calls. And if Crosby decides he’s ready for a change, there’s no shortage of teams that would love to bring in a proven leader and elite pass rusher.
For now, both sides are playing it close to the vest. But make no mistake: Maxx Crosby’s future is one of the biggest questions looming over the Raiders’ offseason. And if he does decide to move on, the ripple effects will be felt across the league.
