A Dallas Cowboys fan got hit with one of the cruelest fake-outs imaginable when his wife made him believe Maxx Crosby was headed to Dallas.
Using a fake ESPN alert on her phone, she sold him a trade update that would have sent the Raiders star to the Cowboys heading into the 2026 season. The message claimed Dallas had landed Crosby for a 2027 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick, and the reaction was instant chaos.
The husband erupted with joy, jumping, running and shouting as if the Cowboys had already won the Super Bowl.
"Oh my god, ESPN," the husband said. "Cowboys make blockbuster trade for defensive end Max Crosby.

Then came the gut punch: the whole thing was fake. Once his wife revealed the alert was AI-generated, the celebration vanished and the Cowboys fan dropped straight into disappointment.
Maxx Crosby, for his part, is staying with the Raiders.
The defensive end has been in trade rumors for months, and the Cowboys were among the teams that pushed to get him earlier this offseason. The Raiders and the Baltimore Ravens even had a deal in March involving Crosby before he failed the physical because of a knee issue. Dallas was also outbid by Baltimore and eventually moved on by signing Rashan Gary.
Raiders general manager John Spytek addressed the speculation and made it clear Crosby is still in Las Vegas.
"People do what they do," Spytek said, via NFL analyst Charles Robinson. "I'm just trying to make the Raiders as good as possible. Right now Maxx is here and I have every expectation that he'll be here."
For now, that should quiet some of the noise around Crosby and all the teams linked to him. The Raiders may still hold off on any move unless the right offer comes along or the season goes sideways early. In the meantime, even with the trade chatter, Crosby has reportedly stayed locked in at training camp and has been giving quarterback Kirk Cousins a tough time in practice.
