Two Former Wildcats Delivered The Feel Good NFL Moment Fans Needed

Two rising stars, Wan'Dale Robinson and Chris Rodriguez, make waves in BBNFL Week 3 with their first season touchdowns, as dramatic plays and unexpected moments define a week full of surprises.

Week 3 belonged to the offense for the BBNFL crowd, and the biggest headlines came from two former Wildcats who both found the end zone for the first time this season with their new teams.

Wan’Dale Robinson got there first in a game that had plenty of familiar faces and not much offense otherwise. Tennessee’s lone touchdown came from Robinson, who hauled in a score against the Giants in his old home stadium.

The throw came from Cam Ward, the quarterback who replaced Will Levis, even if Ward still hasn’t played like the No. 1 overall pick. Robinson finished with seven catches on 11 targets for 57 yards, but Tennessee still came up short in a 12-7 loss to New York.

Afterward, Jameis Winston did exactly what you’d expect Jameis Winston to do. He acted like someone doing an impersonation of Jameis Winston. God bless that man.

Chris Rodriguez had a much more familiar kind of touchdown. Back working with Liam Coen in Jacksonville, Rodriguez powered his way into the end zone for his first score as a Jaguar, falling forward the way he so often did at Kentucky. The touchdown came in the third quarter of Jacksonville’s 35-6 win over the New England Patriots, and it fit his game perfectly.

Rodriguez wasn’t the only Jaguar making noise. Josh Hines-Allen turned in the top grade among all BBNFL players this week at 83.9, and he also found himself at the center of one of the strangest moments of the early season.

That moment came after Travis Hunter picked off his first career pass, and he did it in the end zone. Hines-Allen went to the sideline to grab the ball from a worker so it could make its way to Hunter’s trophy case, but the ball boy wasn’t having it. In a scene that looked almost absurd, the worker kept Hines-Allen from taking the ball until another employee stepped in.

The situation was eventually handled, but the image of the huge Hines-Allen being denied a football by a much smaller ball boy was one of those Week 3 snapshots that’s hard to forget.

There were other notes from around the league, too. Deone Walker logged a sack for Buffalo and kept showing why he’s been such a force up front, even in a game where the Bills had five turnovers and still beat the Chargers 24-16.

Barion Brown was inactive because of a hamstring injury. Trevin Wallace dressed for the Jets but played only special teams in their loss to Detroit.

Carrington Valentine did not play for Green Bay and is now the subject of trade rumors, with his contract year adding another layer to the situation.

Here’s how the BBNFL Week 3 numbers shook out:

Josh Hines-Allen (JAX) led the way with 38 snaps, an 83.9 grade, 1 QB pressure, 4 tackles and 1 assist in the Jaguars’ 35-6 win over New England.

Zoom Diallo Is Bringing A Mindset Kentucky Fans Will Love

Kentuckys offseason addition at point guard is already talking like someone who understands what Rupp Arena is supposed to feel like. Zoom Diallo came through the transfer portal with an eye toward more than just filling a roster spot, stressing the importance of homecourt advantage and the kind of crowd energy that can turn a normal night into something bigger. For a program that lives on atmosphere as much as talent, that is a pretty good place to start.

Diallo also brings a reputation that should resonate with Wildcats fans beyond the buzzwords. His former high school coach pointed to his winning mentality and competitiveness as defining traits, the sort of edge Kentucky hopes will show up when games tighten up and the arena starts to sway. The bigger question now is how quickly that mindset translates once the games start counting. [Read more 🡒]

Kentucky Just Proved Something Big As Morgan Gaerte Wait Continues

Kentucky volleyball keeps finding ways to win even while waiting for one of its most important players to get healthy. The Wildcats are 10-2 on the season and just swept No. 7 Texas, a result that stood out even more because Morgan Gaerte was unavailable after getting hit in the eye in practice. Craig Skinner said Gaerte is being monitored and praised the group for handling the setback and still delivering one of its best results of the year.

For Kentucky, the bigger picture is just as encouraging as the immediate one. The Wildcats now move deeper into SEC play with Auburn and Florida coming up, and the ability to keep their level high while Gaerte is day-to-day gives this team a little more resilience than it might have shown a week ago. The question now is how long that edge can hold if they have to keep going without her. [Read more 🡒]

Kentucky Is Making A Serious Push For A Class-Changing Guard

Kentuckys pursuit of Reese Alston has taken on a more serious edge after the top 10 point guard wrapped up an official visit to Lexington, a sign that the Wildcats are firmly in the mix for one of the classs most coveted backcourt talents. Alstons summer play helped sharpen that attention, and the idea of him as a program-changing guard has made his recruitment one of the more closely watched in the country.

The list of contenders is still crowded, with Louisville drawing particular notice as the in-state battle starts to take shape around him. Kentucky has already done enough to stay relevant deep into the process, but the next steps in Alstons recruitment will say plenty about just how real the Wildcats push is as this race moves toward a decision.
