A new study from Covers.com says Louisville football fans are among the most vulgar in the country, while Kentucky fans landed much farther down the list.
Andy Whiteoak’s analysis looked at thousands of online posts and assigned every FBS program a Vulgarity Score based on fan behavior on Reddit. The study says it tracked “thousands of college football posts on Reddit across every FBS college football program,” using four main factors to build the rankings.
Louisville finished No. 3 overall with a score of 9.79, behind only Mississippi State at No. 1 with a perfect 10.00 and Arkansas at No. 2 with 9.97.
The Cardinals were also the only ACC team to crack the top 10. At the other end of the spectrum, four ACC schools showed up in the bottom 10: Clemson at 2.00, Syracuse at 2.35, NC State at 2.74 and Boston College at 2.82. Sacramento State was listed as the nicest fanbase in the country, coming in last with a score of 1.00.
Kentucky, meanwhile, checked in at No. 15 with a score of 4.54. The Wildcats finished ahead of only Ole Miss, which came in at 3.96.
UK, Ole Miss and Texas at 4.83 were the only schools that landed below the national average, according to the study. Every other SEC program ranked above it.
The takeaway? Probably not much. But if you’ve spent any time on the internet as a Kentucky fan, the idea of running into a sharp-elbowed Louisville supporter probably doesn’t sound all that surprising.
