La Familia is two wins from a TBT title after surviving a tense second-round battle with Boeheim's Army, 70-66, at Memorial Coliseum.
Kentucky’s alumni team had already given Big Blue Nation a summer lift by knocking off The Ville in the opening three-game series, and Sunday’s win pushed that run into new territory. Boeheim's Army, Syracuse alumni, arrived after a 2-0 start of its own against Hall In and spent much of the second half with the lead before La Familia closed the door with a Kahlil Whitney dunk at the finish.
The Wildcats opened up a comfortable cushion early, but Boeheim's Army chipped away and turned the second period into a nerve-rattler for the home side. La Familia still carried a 39-36 lead into halftime, though the momentum had already started to tilt the other way.
That’s when Archie Goodwin took over. The late arrival delivered what the source called an all-time performance, pouring in 30 points while hitting 5 of 9 from beyond the arc. Goodwin had drawn criticism on social media last week for not appearing in La Familia’s first two games, but his showing Sunday changed the conversation in a hurry.
He wasn’t carrying the load alone. Darryl Morsell added 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Willie Cauley-Stein chipped in seven points and helped steady the finish as the orange and blue faded late.
La Familia now moves on to face the winner of JHX Hoops and the Aftershocks on Wednesday. For Kentucky fans, it marks the team’s deepest run yet in the event.
