Hello, Wildcats fans!
This week’s midweek college basketball games were anything but ordinary. We witnessed some thrilling matchups that shook up the SEC standings.
Georgia pulled off a stunning upset over Kentucky at home. Meanwhile, Texas and Texas A&M narrowly edged past LSU and Ole Miss, respectively.
Missouri managed to hold off Vanderbilt with a nail-biting 81-80 win after nearly squandering a 15-point lead. The highlight?
Alabama's double-overtime victory against Arkansas, winning 117-115, despite Darius Acuff Jr.’s phenomenal 49-point performance. Arkansas had a 10-point lead at halftime, but Alabama found a way to clinch the win.
As March approaches, the Southeastern Conference is heating up. Let’s dive into the updated standings:
SEC Basketball Standings
- Texas: Riding a five-game winning streak, Texas has turned their season around. After a tough six-point loss at Auburn left them at 12-9, many counted them out. Now, they're looking strong for the NCAA Tournament, while Auburn needs a strong finish to secure their spot.
- Texas A&M: They snapped a four-game losing streak with a crucial win over Ole Miss, preventing their season from unraveling completely. Up next is a must-win game at Oklahoma.
- Kentucky: After falling from 2nd to a tie for 5th with back-to-back losses to Florida and Georgia, the Wildcats face road games against Auburn and South Carolina. Winning away from home is always a challenge, but these are games Kentucky should aim to win.
- Florida: Their next matchup against a ranked opponent is set for the end of the month when they host Arkansas. The showdown between Darius Acuff Jr. and the Gators, along with Boogie Fland facing his former team, promises to be intriguing.
- Tennessee: With victories in eight of their last ten games, their only losses came at the hands of Kentucky, twice.
As the regular season winds down, every game counts. Stay tuned for more excitement as teams battle for tournament positions.
