The denim is back-and it’s looking as sharp as ever.
Kentucky men’s basketball unveiled its new alternate uniforms on Friday morning, and for fans of the program’s rich history, this one hits all the right notes. The Wildcats will debut the throwback-inspired look during Saturday night’s home showdown against Tennessee, marking the first time in 30 years that Kentucky has brought denim back to the hardwood.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t just a fashion statement. It’s a nod to one of the most iconic teams in college basketball history-the 1996 national champions, famously known as “The Untouchables.”
That squad didn’t just win; they dominated. And now, in 2026, with Mark Pope-who played on that title-winning team-leading the program as head coach, the timing couldn’t be more fitting.
The new uniforms pay homage to the past without getting stuck in it. They feature a lighter, denim-inspired blue trim that outlines the jersey and shorts.
“KENTUCKY” stretches across the chest in bold white lettering, flanked by the Nike and SEC logos on the shoulders. The shorts carry the UK logo front and center, encircled by the phrase “AN UNPARALLELED TRADITION”-a fitting tribute to a program that’s built its legacy on excellence.
And yes, “The Untouchables” get their due. That nickname, synonymous with swagger and supremacy, is etched into the design as a reminder of what this program has achieved-and what it still aspires to be.
Freshman big man Malachi Moreno was the model for the jersey reveal, donning the number 24 in the photo shoot. The look is completed with the new Nike Book Chapter 2 “Must Be the Denim” sneakers, which tie the whole ensemble together with a modern twist.
We’ll get our first live look at the new uniforms under the lights at Rupp Arena when Kentucky tips off against the Vols at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. It’s not just a game-it’s a celebration of history, culture, and the kind of tradition that only a program like Kentucky can pull off with this much style.
The denim’s back. And it’s more than just a throwback-it’s a statement.
