Kentucky is getting an early crack at one of the fastest-rising names in the 2028 class.
Top 25 prospect Benjamin Berrouet has scheduled an official visit to Lexington for Oct. 9 through Oct. 11, according to 247 Sports’ Dushawn London. That puts him on campus during a big weekend for the Wildcats, with Kentucky football hosting LSU at Kroger Field and the expectation that the 6-7 forward will be in attendance. There’s also a chance the basketball program has an exhibition that Friday, with one preseason game still to be announced.
Berrouet, a Dallas native who plays for Dynamic Prep, has built serious momentum over the spring and summer. His latest surge came at the U16 EuroBasket, where he suited up for Latvia and put together a dominant run.
He finished the event leading in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 23.6 points, 15.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game on the way to a championship and MVP honors. It was the kind of breakout stretch that puts a player on the map well beyond his class.
Kentucky isn’t alone in chasing him. Berrouet is also set to visit UCLA on Oct. 28, and more trips are expected to be lined up soon. His offer list already includes Kentucky, UCLA, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisville, Kansas, Houston, Michigan and others.
The Wildcats have been active in the 2028 cycle, with Berrouet one of eight offers in the class. The others include Yann Kamagate, Bamba Touray, Evan Willis, Erick Dampier Jr., Brady Pettigrew, DJ Okoth and Liam Mitakaro.
As a player, Berrouet brings the kind of versatility that makes evaluators sit up. NBA Draft Room described him as: "A big, strong and highly talented forward who can do it all on the court.
Has great ball skills and fundamentals for a young big man. Can dribble, pass and shoot the ball and has some point forward abilities.
Has solid quickness and athleticism for a big guy and can play above the rim. Appears to have good length.
Has the strength and build to play bully ball or beat you with finesse. One of the elite talents in the 2028 recruiting class."
At just 16, Berrouet still has plenty of runway ahead of him, and he’s already trending toward top 10 consensus status.
