Cayden Daughtry didn’t just have a big summer. He put himself in the middle of the national conversation.
After a blistering run at the 2026 Nike EYBL Peach Jam, the 6-foot, 155-pound 5-star point guard may have emerged as the hottest name in the class of 2027. Daughtry powered the Florida Rebels to the Peach Jam championship and put together a stretch that was hard to ignore, even in a loaded recruiting landscape.
Over his final eight games, he averaged 32.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game while shooting 59 percent from the field, 49 percent from three-point range, and 91 percent from the free-throw line. He finished the title game with 33 points, nine rebounds, six assists, one block, and just one turnover.
That kind of production has pushed Daughtry up the national board. He now sits at No. 3 overall and No. 2 among point guards in the 247 Sports rankings.
247 Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein has been especially impressed, calling him “ the most skilled player in high school basketball.” Finkelstein pointed to Daughtry’s ball-handling, shooting range, finishing ability, pick-and-roll reads, low turnover rate, and his willingness to keep moving without the ball even though he’s the primary creator.
There are still questions about how his slender 6-foot frame will hold up at higher levels, but Daughtry keeps answering with production, competitiveness, and a feel for the game that shows up possession after possession.
Kentucky has been in the mix for months. Mark Pope and the Wildcats offered him on May 18, 2026, and multiple Kentucky staff members have tracked him during spring and summer evaluation periods.
The race is still wide open, though. Daughtry has only one official visit on the calendar right now, with Iowa set to host him on Sept.

For now, 247 Sports’ Kyle Tucker sees Iowa and Miami as the early schools to watch. Jai Lucas, now at Miami after his time as a Kentucky assistant, has already been a force on the recruiting trail, so the Hurricanes being in position for an elite prospect like Daughtry makes sense.
Kentucky does have one commitment in its 2027 class already, 5-star forward Ryan Hampton. Adding a dynamic lead guard like Daughtry would change the look of that group in a hurry.
After a rough recruiting cycle a year ago, Pope and his staff seem intent on making the 2027 class one of the best in the country. Daughtry is clearly one of the top names on their board, but after what he just did at Peach Jam, Kentucky is battling nearly every major program in America for him.
