Mark Pope and Kentucky are making a hard push for one of the portal’s most productive forwards, and the timing feels significant. After spending much of the summer searching for the roster’s final opening, the Wildcats appear to have zeroed in on Fifth-year senior Keyshawn Hall, who reportedly took part in a Zoom call with Kentucky’s staff on Monday, per Tristan Pharis.
Hall, who played last season at Auburn, has emerged as one of the biggest names in the portal class, and Kentucky is moving early in the process. There are questions about his path - four, soon to be five schools in as many years - but the production is hard to dismiss. For a team looking for one more impact piece, Hall brings the kind of résumé that demands attention.
The 6-7 forward posted 19.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last season for Auburn, and he did it with 60.6% true shooting. He’s a versatile scorer who can create off the dribble and stretch the floor, knocking down 37.9% from three. In a ball-dominant role, he showed he can carry real offensive weight, and that skill set fits neatly with what Pope is building.
Kentucky isn’t alone in the chase. Indiana, St.
John’s, Kansas, and LSU have all shown interest, among others. Still, Hall’s conversation with the Wildcats stands out as a strong early sign for Pope’s staff.
That kind of momentum would continue a summer that’s already starting to look like a turning point for Kentucky’s recruiting under Pope. Nikola Kusturica and Marcus Spears Jr. ended up elsewhere, but the Wildcats still landed Milan Momcilovic in the current class and five-star Ryan Hampton in 2027. Those wins have helped create a sense that Pope’s recruiting success may be becoming the expectation rather than the exception.
Hall remains one of several portal options on Kentucky’s board, but right now he looks like the best bet. Pope is pressing here, and with fall getting closer, this one could move quickly. And if Hall were to put together nights like the back-to-back 32-point games he had at Rupp Arena during Auburn’s last season, a lot of the background concerns would probably fade fast.
