Kentucky Hit With Tough Jaland Lowe Transfer Move

Kentucky's Jaland Lowe, following a challenging redshirt year marked by injuries, sets his sights on new opportunities through the transfer portal.

Jaland Lowe's journey with Kentucky is taking an unexpected turn. After a challenging season marked by injuries, the 6-foot-1 point guard has decided not to return to the Wildcats.

Lowe's year was cut short after playing just nine games, ending with season-ending surgery. His father confirmed the news, leaving fans curious about Lowe's next steps.

During his time on the court, Lowe showed promise, averaging 8.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game. His season kicked off with a setback when he dislocated his shoulder in Kentucky’s Blue-White Game.

He made a brief comeback against Valparaiso on November 7 and logged significant minutes against Louisville on November 11. However, another shoulder injury during practice sidelined him again.

Lowe managed to return for a few games in December and January but ultimately had to step back after re-injuring himself against Mississippi State on January 10.

Lowe's decision to move on makes him the first Kentucky player to announce his plans this offseason. Initially, he seemed set on returning, expressing his intent at the SEC Tournament. “The plan has always been to come back,” he shared then.

Originally hailing from Missouri City, Texas, Lowe started his college career at Pitt. There, he made a significant impact, especially in his sophomore season, where he averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.2 rebounds, earning All-ACC honors.

With two seasons of eligibility left, Lowe is now exploring his options in the transfer portal. His talent and experience make him an intriguing prospect for any program looking to bolster its backcourt.

For those following Kentucky closely, there's much more to come as the offseason unfolds.
