Alabama’s injury picture got a little heavier Thursday as the Crimson Tide released their second availability report ahead of Week 2 against Kentucky.
Freshman defensive back Zyan Gibson is now out, adding another name to a secondary that is already missing Nick Sherman and Jorden Edmonds. Alabama also lists wide receiver Noah Rogers, linebacker Cayden Jones and defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman as out. Offensive lineman Michael Carroll remains doubtful.

Kentucky’s report brought a few uncertainties of its own. The Wildcats have offensive lineman Jay Clark out, while defensive back Andre Clarke Jr. and offensive linemen Max Anderson and Aba Selm are all questionable.
This matchup will be the first conference game of the season for both teams, and it will also mark the first time Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer takes his team to Kroger Field against Kentucky.
DeBoer is, however, familiar with Kentucky’s new head coach, Will Stein. Stein served as Oregon’s offensive coordinator from 2023 to 2025, and DeBoer was Washington’s head coach during the 2023 season.
Speaking on Hey Coach, DeBoer said Kentucky’s offensive line will be a major factor in the game.
“Their offensive line has some veterans that have done a nice job, at least through Week 1,” DeBoer said about Kentucky on Hey Coach, per Charlie Potter of BamaOnline. “I think you know that that will certainly be a challenge, and that’s where it’s going to start. Because if we can take care of business up front, we’ll allow ourselves to pin our ears back at times and get after the quarterback, and that’s always the goal, no matter who you’re playing.
“… But you have a general idea of their offense, having seen Coach Stein, who does a really good job as a football coach and offensively does an amazing job leading the charge there. So, have a familiarity of the kind of schemes that we’ll see, how they’ll try to attack us.
We got to make sure we do a good job taking care of the line of scrimmage. That’s where it starts.
But I feel that’s also a strength for us.”
