Kentucky’s attention is split this week, and that’s exactly how a big program’s calendar looks in October. On one side, Mark Pope’s Wildcats are inching toward the 2026-27 basketball season with their annual Pro Day on Tuesday.
On the other, Kentucky football is getting ready for a massive SEC test against No. 10 LSU on Saturday at Kroger Field.
The Pro Day is the main attraction for the basketball side. NBA personnel from all 30 teams are expected to be there as the Wildcats go through combine testing and drills designed to show off their skills.
There should also be live scrimmaging mixed in, giving scouts a fuller look at the roster. KSR is set to have coverage from the event, and the broadcast is scheduled to air live at 5 p.m.
EST on SECN+.
Recruiting is moving right alongside the preseason work. Kentucky had both good news and bad news on Monday: five-star guard Nasir Anderson canceled his official visit, while the Wildcats did host DeMarcus Henry on campus. Henry is the top small forward in America and the No. 2 overall player in the 2027 class.
There’s also more basketball information circulating behind the scenes. Jack Pilgrim has the latest on Kentucky’s recruiting push and preseason practices in a notebook on KSR+, along with fresh insider intel.
For fans hoping to get into Rupp Arena this season, the window opens at 5 p.m. EST.
That’s when single-game tickets for Kentucky’s first 10 home games go on sale to the general public. Today also marks the start of the CBS Sports Classic presale.
On the football side, Kentucky is in the middle of its most physical practice day of the week. It’s Bloody Tuesday at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility, with pads popping on the natural grass as the Wildcats prepare for the matchup with LSU. Will Stein is expected to talk about Lane Kiffin’s team at approximately noon.
Kentucky’s momentum from the comeback at South Carolina is still earning recognition. The 17-point rally on the road was historic, and the Wildcats picked up two SEC weekly honors because of it.
Kenny Darby was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week, and Lance Heard earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Darby is the first Kentucky player with at least 12 receptions, 96 yards, and one touchdown in an SEC road game since Randall Cobb at Mississippi State in 2010.
Heard, meanwhile, was opening holes in the Palmetto State.
There was also a Kentucky football note worth watching in the NFL. Former Wildcats defensive tackle Deone Walker had only two tackles against the Patriots, but the performance still drew attention for the way he controlled the game. He’s healthy now, and the buzz around him is growing fast.
The postseason baseball board is set as well. The White Sox are one win away from the ALCS after beating the Guardians 4-3 to go up 2-0.
The Rays also moved to a 2-0 lead in their ALDS with a 5-2 win over the Yankees. In the National League, Milwaukee can clinch a spot in the NLCS with a win over the Padres in San Diego at 9:30 p.m.
EST, while the Braves and Dodgers meet in Atlanta at 6 p.m. EST with the series tied 1-1.
Both games will be on FS1.
And yes, the week keeps rolling. Southern Miss heads to Troy to open the Tuesday night college football slate, with Gerad Parker’s team favored by 10.5 points.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. EST on ESPN2.
C-USA takes over tomorrow, and the week isn’t letting up anytime soon.

Kentuckys 2027 Recruiting Footprint Already Stands Out In The SEC
The early shape of the 2027 recruiting cycle is already giving SEC programs a clear geographic identity, and Kentucky is part of that conversation in a notable way. With 11 of the leagues 16 teams sitting inside the national top 25, the conference is again recruiting at a level that forces everyone to think beyond their own borders, but the Wildcats have still managed to carve out a footprint that stands out when compared with the rest of the leagues spread of classes and commit distances.
For Kentucky, the story is less about one splashy number than the broader trend of where the staff is landing players and how that fits into the SEC landscape. The Wildcats class is being measured against schools that are leaning heavily on nearby talent, others that are casting wider nets, and a handful that already have key commits shaping their direction, leaving Kentucky in an interesting middle ground as the 2027 board continues to take shape. Kentucky Got One Huge SEC Sign After That South Carolina Comeback
The SEC handed out its Week 5 football honors after a busy stretch of league play, and Kentuckys trip to South Carolina also ended up producing a notable recognition on the Wildcats side of the ledger. Along with offensive, defensive and special teams awards that went to players from around the conference, Kentucky landed one of the weeks position-specific honors tied to the line of scrimmage.
Lance Heard was the Wildcat singled out, a fitting nod after a game in which Kentucky needed steadiness up front to survive the road. His performance stood out well beyond the final score, with the kind of consistency and physicality that can swing an overtime game, and it gave Kentucky a timely SEC reminder that the work in the trenches still gets noticed when the league starts handing out awards. Kentucky Fans Face An Early Rupp Ticket Crunch
Kentucky fans looking to lock in seats for the 2026-27 season wont have to wait long to start planning. Single-game tickets for the first 10 home dates at Rupp Arena, including three exhibitions and several regular-season matchups, are set to hit Ticketmaster for the general public Tuesday at 5 p.m. EST, giving Big Blue Nation an early crack at what should be a busy home schedule.
The one caveat is that the most in-demand SEC home games will be handled later, depending on availability, so the first wave is only part of the picture. Theres also a separate path for the CBS Sports Classic meeting with North Carolina at Madison Square Garden, which comes with its own presale and general sale window, leaving Kentucky supporters to juggle a few different ticket clocks if they want to follow the team from Rupp to New York.
