Kentucky football is giving Cats fans a free chance to get up close with the team this Saturday at Kroger Field.
From 5-6 PM on Aug. 15, Kentucky will hold a “Meet the Team” event that lets Big Blue Nation come for autographs from players and coaches and spend short moments with their favorite Wildcats. UK Athletics said there are a few rules to keep the line moving: one autographed item per person and no posed photos.
The event gives fans a first real look at Kentucky’s revamped roster and the new energy around Will Stein’s program. As the season gets closer, this kind of outreach is exactly the sort of move that can pull Lexington even further into the new era.

The timing also matters. Kentucky is coming off a 41-0 shutout loss to Louisville to close last season, and the fanbase didn’t need much to be jolted back into the moment. That kind of access is harder to stage at Kroger Field, but the idea is the same: make the fans feel included.
That matters in Lexington, especially after a coach who, at times, never seemed to fully connect with the stands. Fans will remember Mark Stoops’ snarky call for the BBN to “pony up” NIL money if they wanted a better roster. Stoops had success in Lexington, but his relationship with the fanbase was shaped by frustration with changing times.
