With the transfer portal set to open on April 7th, it's time to start looking at potential targets for the Wildcats. One standout name is Central Arkansas guard Camren Hunter.
Kentucky is expected to be in the mix for Hunter once he officially enters the portal, as reported by Jacob Polacheck.
Hunter's journey through college basketball has been quite the ride. He started with three seasons at Central Arkansas, then transferred to Wisconsin for the 2024-25 season.
Unfortunately, a foot injury kept him sidelined for the 2023-24 campaign, and his time with the Badgers saw him averaging less than half a point per game. Still, it gave him a glimpse into Power Four basketball.
Back at Central Arkansas this past season, Hunter was on fire, averaging 21 points per game and hitting nearly 37 percent from beyond the arc. He's now seeking an additional year of eligibility and is considering a return to Central Arkansas. Having played only 11 games at Wisconsin after his injury, he's hoping this will bolster his case for a sixth year.
In the Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship Game, Hunter was a force to be reckoned with, scoring 49 of the Bears' 93 points in a tough 98-93 loss to Queens. That's more than half of the team's total points.
Hunter is just one of several names Kentucky fans should keep an eye on in the portal, alongside Butler’s Finley Bizjack and San Diego State’s Miles Byrd, among others. The coming weeks promise to be interesting as the Wildcats look to bolster their roster.
