The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in a familiar situation, as veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers once again takes his time deciding on his future with the team. This uncertainty is causing some ripples within the organization, especially as they weigh their options between sticking with former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard or exploring new talent in the upcoming Draft.
The anticipation surrounding Rodgers' decision is palpable, and if he returns, it could be a setback for Howard’s aspirations to lead the team. Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger recently weighed in on his podcast, expressing strong confidence in Rodgers as the team's quarterback for the next season.
"How is Aaron not coming back when you have those kinds of weapons?" Roethlisberger said.
"There is no way he's not coming back. I think it’s a shoo-in.
Aaron, just let us know, man."
The Steelers have bolstered their receiving corps by adding former Indianapolis Colts receiver Michael Pittman Jr., forming a formidable duo with DK Metcalf. Roethlisberger believes Rodgers would relish the opportunity to work with such talent at wide receiver.
Interestingly, Roethlisberger didn't mention Will Howard, which might reflect the uncertainty surrounding Rodgers' decision. The narrative seems to lean towards Rodgers holding the reins once again next season.
"To me, that is just gigantic," Roethlisberger noted. "Now, you've got DK [Metcalf], him, and Roman Wilson, who we believe is a really good talent and a guy they need to use more.
I still think there is an opportunity to go get a guy somewhere in the Draft. You got the picks."
The Steelers have the draft capital to make significant moves, and Roethlisberger suggests there’s still room to enhance the roster. Meanwhile, the team and its fans await Rodgers' decision, hoping for clarity soon.
