Kansas State is making waves early on, with players already smashing program records in the weight room. Five Wildcats have set new all-time squat records for their respective position groups, and Coach Collin Klein couldn’t be prouder.
In his Wednesday press conference, Klein praised the hard work and dedication of his inaugural group. "That's a lot of weight," he remarked, highlighting the collaborative effort behind these achievements.
From nutrition to sports science, the support staff, including Scott and Lance Yancey, played crucial roles. Klein emphasized the players' determination: "Those guys went out, put their nose down, and got it done.
I'm very proud of all of them."
As the Wildcats prepare for the upcoming season, they hope this same tenacity will translate onto the field. Despite losing key players to the transfer portal, there's optimism about the new talent joining the ranks. The team welcomes promising additions like edge rushers Elijah Hill and Wendell Gregory, running back Jay Harris, and linebacker Mehki Mason.
Klein has also praised returning players, including wide receiver Jaron Tibbs, tight end Garrett Oakley, and running back Joe Jackson. With the goal of bouncing back from a tumultuous 2025 season, the Wildcats are focusing on a collective effort.
"The mindset and mantra throughout the whole winter was 'strain and finish,'" Klein explained. "Just learning how to give more every single rep and with everything you do, while finishing every single rep of everything that we do.
They've embraced that."
Klein is eager to see this competitive spirit in action on the field, confident that the team's depth will lead to fierce competition across positions. The Wildcats are ready to turn last season’s lessons into this year’s triumphs.
