Kansas State Secures Visits From Elite Prospects Including Top Quarterback

Kansas State football aims to secure top talent with visits from elite 2027 prospects, including a highly-ranked quarterback and the states top wide receiver.

Kansas State football is gearing up for some exciting potential additions to its roster, with two top Class of 2027 prospects planning visits to Manhattan. Let's dive into what makes these young athletes stand out and why their interest in K-State is a big deal.

Jake Nawrot

First up, we have Jake Nawrot, a standout quarterback from the Chicagoland area. Scheduled for his second visit to Manhattan on April 9, Nawrot is already making waves nationally.

Rivals ranks him as the No. 2 quarterback and No. 32 overall prospect, while 247Sports lists him as the No. 6 quarterback and No. 68 overall. If he commits to K-State, he'd join the ranks of Josh Freeman and Avery Johnson as one of the highest-rated quarterback recruits in school history.

Standing tall at 6-foot-4 and weighing 200 pounds, Nawrot is coming off an impressive junior season at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He completed over 71% of his passes, racking up 3,078 yards and 41 touchdowns with just two interceptions. Not just a threat through the air, he also added 124 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground.

His performance at the Elite 11 competition in Indianapolis earned him the prestigious Alpha Dog honor. According to 247Sports' Andrew Ivins, Nawrot is a "big and athletic one-year starter with a high-powered arm." He's praised for his accuracy, decision-making, and ability to make plays on the move.

Despite Iowa being a strong contender due to his father's history with the Hawkeyes, Kansas State's interest hasn't waned. Nawrot's upcoming visits include stops at Florida State, Oregon, Iowa, and Washington.

Cooper Ohnmacht

Next, we have Cooper Ohnmacht, a dynamic in-state wide receiver who will visit K-State from June 19-21. Ohnmacht's coming off a stellar season at Grand Bend High, with 52 receptions for 755 yards and eight touchdowns. He's not just an offensive threat; his defensive skills are notable too, with 56 tackles and five interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns.

Ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the state by major recruiting sites, Ohnmacht is also a top athlete nationally-No. 9 by Rivals and No. 14 by 247Sports. His versatility on both sides of the ball makes him a coveted recruit.

Ohnmacht has also scheduled an official visit to Kansas and holds offers from several other schools, including Iowa State, Wisconsin, and Penn State. A commitment to Kansas State would be significant, marking the first time since 2023 that the state's top player would join the Wildcats.

With these two promising prospects considering Kansas State, the Wildcats are poised to potentially bolster their roster with some serious talent. Fans should keep a close eye on these visits as K-State looks to shape its future with these standout athletes.
