Kansas State Recruiting Push Just Reached An Interesting New Place

Kansas State Wildcats make strategic moves in the recruiting game with new offers to top high school prospects across the country.

Kansas State kept its recruiting momentum rolling with another offer to a Georgia defender, extending a scholarship to Westlake High School linebacker Cortez Jones.

Jones, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 20-5 pounds, now has a growing offer sheet that includes Georgia Tech, Louisville, Missouri and Kansas.

He’s part of a broader wave of prospects Kansas State has been targeting, with Collin Klein’s staff continuing to work across multiple classes and positions.

One of the more intriguing names on that list is Noah Gigger, a wide receiver at CarrollWood Day School in Tampa who is in the 2030 class. Gigger already has offers from Maryland, North Carolina and Syracuse, and the Wildcats may be getting involved early with a player who is expected to become one of the nation’s top prospects. He has been on varsity since he was 14.

Kansas State has also offered Jamison Mobley, an offensive/defensive lineman from Jenks High School in Oklahoma. Mobley is in the class of 2029, already holds five Division I offers, and is listed at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds.

The Wildcats added another defensive back target in Elijah Smith, a 2028 prospect from Allen High School in Texas. Smith has offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State and Louisville. He is also a standout at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Georgia and is rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports.

Another defensive back on the board is Dailon Denkins, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Fort Bend High School in Texas. 247 Sports rates Denkins as a four-star recruit.

On the defensive line, Kansas State has offered Julian Dwyer, a three-star end from Cincinnati Moeller High School. Dwyer also has offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois and Indiana, and 247 Sports lists him as the 16th-best player in Ohio.

The Wildcats have also jumped into the mix for Jekai Lee, a defensive end from Butler Community College. Lee is 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds and has offers from Florida International, Georgia State, Southern Mississippi and UTSA.

Tight end has been another area of attention. Kansas State offered three-star Brady Reeves, who plays at Hill-Murray High School in Maplewood, Minnesota.

Reeves also has offers from Vanderbilt, Iowa State and Miami (OH), and 247Sports has him just outside the top 20 at his position. Last season, he caught 25 passes for 327 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Wildcats also offered Sloan Blackwell on Tuesday night. Blackwell attends Waco Midway High School in Waco, Texas, and has offers from Arizona, Syracuse and Arizona State. He finished last season with 18 catches for 254 yards and two touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.

Kansas State’s latest offensive line target is Jerry Richmond, who plays at East St. Louis High School in Illinois. Richmond has also drawn offers from Florida Atlantic, North Carolina and South Dakota.

Asher Megonnell is the latest offensive tackle to receive an offer as well.

K-State Faces An Early Gut Check In A Game That Could Turn Late

Kansas State gets a midday home test Saturday when Houston comes to Bill Snyder Family Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff, and it has the feel of a game that could stay tight deep into the second half. The buildup around this one has centered on how the Wildcats match up with a Houston team that has shown enough to make the odds and the recent form worth paying attention to, especially with both sides bringing strengths that could play well in a close, physical game.

For Kansas State, the bigger picture is simple: this is the kind of early gut check that can shape how the rest of the week feels around Manhattan. The preview of the matchup points to a competitive night with injury news still part of the conversation and a slight edge going to Houston, so the Wildcats may need to be sharp from the start if they want to turn a coin-flip type of game in their favor late. Arizona State Sits In A Stretch That Could Define Colorados Bowl Push

Colorados bye week arrives with the kind of math that can sharpen a season in a hurry. At 2-3, the Buffaloes still have a path to bowl eligibility, but it asks them to win four of their final seven games, and the margin for error is thin with a schedule that still includes UCF, Arizona State, Kansas State, Cincinnati, Houston and Oklahoma State.

Arizona State is part of the stretch that may define whether Colorado keeps that hope alive or watches it slip away. The Buffaloes have to find more dependable offense and hold up better on defense against a run of opponents that includes several ranked teams, which means every remaining week carries more weight than the last and the games against the Big 12 middle can no longer be treated like soft landing spots. Houston Faces A Huge Big 12 Test With Early Stakes Already Rising

Houstons trip to Manhattan stands out as one of the most intriguing Big 12 games of the week, even in a slate filled with eye-catching matchups. Kansas State gets the kind of early measuring-stick game that can sharpen the picture of where both teams really belong in the league race, while Houston arrives with a chance to show it can handle the week-to-week grind that comes with life in the conference.

The broader Week 6 board also gives this one extra texture, with Arizona at West Virginia, Iowa State at BYU, UCF at Oklahoma State, Kansas at Utah and Hawaii at Arizona State each carrying their own hooks. Still, the Houston-Kansas State game has a little more edge to it because early stakes are already starting to matter, and both sides can turn a solid performance into something bigger as the schedule tightens.
