Kansas State is adding another body to the tight end room in Owen Harrington, a 6-2, 245-pound true sophomore from San Jose who arrives with JUCO experience and a clear chance to carve out a role.
Harrington, who was born Sept. 20, 2006, is majoring in biology and is expected to work as both an inline tight end and an H-back in the Wildcats’ offense. That matters because the position group isn’t overflowing with depth. According to On3, Linkon Cure, Garrett Oakley and Will Anciaux were the only three tight ends to take part in spring practices while Arley Morrell and Lawson McGraw were wrapping up their senior years of high school.
Harrington’s most recent stop came at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California, where he played for head coach Matt Raivio and was ranked by 247Sports as the seventh-best community college tight end in the Class of 2026. Over 10 games for the Owls, he caught 14 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. His busiest outing came at Sequoias, where he finished with four receptions for 21 yards and scored on an 8-yard touchdown in a 29-28 overtime win.
He also had a strong day against San José, posting a season-high 29 yards on two catches, highlighted by a 20-yard grab that matched his longest catch of the year. He later tied that mark against Sacramento City.
Now Harrington joins a tight end competition that includes Oakley and Cure, with Kansas State looking for players who can make plays in the end zone. As Collin Klein said earlier this year during spring practice, “(Linkon Cure) and Will Anciaux haven’t missed a snap all spring, and that’s a credit to their toughness and how they prepared themselves,”
Before the junior college route, Harrington built his foundation at Archbishop Mitty High School in San José under head coach Danny Sullivan. Over his final two prep seasons, he recorded 26 catches for 297 yards and six touchdowns. The bulk of that production came in his senior year, when he accounted for all six touchdowns and 253 receiving yards, earning conference tight end of the year honors and first-team all-conference recognition.

Ja'Son Prevard, the transfer from Virginia, is in the mix for a starting job as Klein and the staff sort through a group that is getting a real chance to compete rather than being handed spots before camp settles in.
