Kansas State has found its new head coach in Casey Alexander, and there's a buzz of excitement around Manhattan. The Wildcats are ready to embrace a fresh chapter under Alexander's leadership, and it's not just the fans who are optimistic. Former players and members of the search committee are singing his praises.
Jordan Henriquez, a former K-State standout who played from 2009 to 2012, was part of the committee that selected Alexander. Henriquez, who also coaches the Purple Reign team in the TBT, knows a thing or two about what it takes to succeed at Kansas State.
Reflecting on Alexander, Henriquez shared, "Casey is a good guy. He’s a winner, and what he’s been doing at Belmont over the years, he’s had a ton of success." It's clear that Alexander's track record at Belmont, where he consistently delivered impressive results, caught the committee's attention.
Henriquez believes Alexander's offensive prowess will be a game-changer for the Wildcats. "His efficiency, he runs the numbers up offensively," Henriquez noted. "I know he can have a good impact bringing in guys who can impact winning."
Restoring the glory that Henriquez experienced during his time with the Wildcats is a priority. Henriquez was part of a team that made four NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the Elite Eight. Kansas State fans are hopeful that Alexander can replicate similar success.
Alexander's tenure at Belmont was nothing short of remarkable. He notched 166 wins and led the Bruins to a 2026 regular season title in the Missouri Valley Conference. Under his guidance, Belmont was one of just three programs to win 20 or more games in each of the last 16 seasons.
Now, as the 27th head coach of Kansas State, following the interim stint of Matthew Driscoll, Alexander is poised to make his mark. The Wildcats are eager to see how his winning formula will translate to success in the Big 12.
