Former Kansas State Players Are Making Noise All Over College Football

Former Kansas State players shine with standout performances and game-changing plays in Week 8 showdowns.

Week 8 had a little bit of everything for former Kansas State players: a pass rusher wrecking shop in the Big Ten, a back scoring three times in Hawaii, and a receiver posting a career day in a wild overtime comeback.

Tobi Osunsanmi kept right on causing problems for Indiana, turning in another disruptive performance in the Hoosiers’ 13-6 overtime win at Michigan. He finished with three tackles and two sacks, and those sacks cost Michigan 19 yards. Indiana didn’t score a touchdown in regulation, but Osunsanmi’s pressure helped keep the game under control.

The biggest damage came in the third quarter, when he dropped Tommy Carr for a 13-yard loss and pushed Michigan back before a missed 32-yard field goal attempt preserved Indiana’s 6-0 lead. He got Carr again early in the fourth quarter, and that was his ninth sack of the season. With Indiana failing to complete a pass in the second half, the defense had to hang on until the Hoosiers finally found the winning touchdown in overtime.

DeVon Rice did his part in Hawaii’s offense in a 56-21 win over Northern Illinois, and he did it in style. The former Wildcat rushed 12 times for 71 yards and scored three touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. His scores came from 2, 33 and 5 yards out, giving Hawaii three of its eight touchdowns in a game that produced the Rainbow Warriors’ second win of the season.

Rice paired nicely with Micah Alejado, who threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns. Between the ground game and the air attack, Hawaii kept the scoreboard moving all afternoon in the road win.

Jemyri Davis came up with the surprise of the weekend in Memphis’ 41-34 overtime victory over East Carolina. He caught seven passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns, setting career highs in receptions and receiving yards while logging his first multi-touchdown game. Memphis had to erase a 16-3 halftime deficit to pull it out, and Davis was a major part of that turnaround.

Both of his touchdown grabs came after halftime. He caught a 20-yard pass from Marcus Stokes in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 24-17, then hauled in a 4-yard score in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 27. That second touchdown came after a recovered muffed punt, turning a special-teams takeaway into points as Memphis completed the comeback and clinched bowl eligibility for the 13th straight season.

He appeared in four games for the Wildcats during the 2025 season.

Collin Klein Sounds Fed Up With What Kansas State Must Fix

The frustration was plain after Kansas States 28-17 loss to Arizona State, with Collin Klein leaving little doubt that the Wildcats have work to do in several areas. He pointed directly to the offensive line and the struggles on third down, two issues that helped stall a night when the offense never found much rhythm.

Jacob Knuth drew a positive mention from Klein for the way he competed and handled the physical side of the game, a small bright spot in an otherwise disappointing result. Klein also made it clear the fixes have to come from everywhere, not just the players on the field, as Kansas State looks for cleaner execution from both the roster and the coaching staff moving forward. Felix Anudike-Uzomah Is Finally Forcing His Way Into Chiefs Plans

Felix Anudike-Uzomah is finally getting the kind of runway the Chiefs envisioned when they made him a first-round pick in 2023. After a start to his pro career slowed by surgeries on both hamstrings, he has worked back into the lineup and started all five games this season, giving Kansas City a healthier look off the edge and a chance to see more of the former Kansas State standout in a real role.

For Anudike-Uzomah, the shift has been about more than just being available. Injuries had repeatedly interrupted his progress, including a complete tear of his right hamstring and lingering trouble with the left, but the early returns have been enough for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to note how much better he has looked and how much more he is affecting the field. The bigger question now is whether this is the point where his development finally starts matching the Chiefs long-term plans. [Read more 🡒]

Collin Klein Is Expanding Kansas States Recruiting Fight Into New Territory

Collin Klein is widening Kansas States recruiting footprint as the Wildcats continue to chase talent for future classes. The Kansas State coach has extended offers to several high school prospects, with the list stretching beyond the usual regional footprint and reaching into places like Iowa, a sign the program is aiming to stay competitive for a broader pool of athletes.

Jayden Stephens is among the prospects getting attention, part of a group that also includes players from multiple other states as Kansas State builds out its board. The offer pattern suggests Klein and his staff are being aggressive early, trying to get in on names before the recruiting race tightens and the next round of visits and evaluations starts to sort out who the Wildcats can realistically land.
