Dawayne Jones Stuns Fans With Kansas State Recruitment News

Top Oklahoma prospect Dawayne Jones reveals how his connection to Kansas State is shaping his recruitment journey amid multiple offers.

Dawayne Jones is making waves as one of Oklahoma’s most promising football prospects. Hailing from Tulsa and shining at Booker T.

Washington, Jones has quickly ascended the ranks, now sitting as the No. 7 player in the state. His breakout came during his junior year, where his performances caught the eye of many, including Kansas State.

The Wildcats first extended an offer to him back in January 2025, right after his sophomore season. Fast forward nearly a year, and with a new coaching staff in place, K-State renewed their interest, intensifying their pursuit of the talented defensive tackle.

Jones was among the first to announce an official visit to K-State this summer, and the offers have been pouring in ever since. Rated with an impressive 89 grade, he’s attracting attention from powerhouse programs like LSU, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arizona, Arizona State, and Nebraska, among many others.

Kansas State, however, has a unique edge in this recruiting battle: a family connection. His brother, Wayne, was part of the K-State family from 2018 to 2021, which has only strengthened Dawayne’s ties to the program.

In a conversation with GoPowercat, Jones shared, “K-State has always felt like family since my brother played there. I've seen how they treat their players, and I really feel the love from the staff. They're building something special, and that excites me.”

This connection, combined with the Wildcats’ dedicated recruitment efforts, positions K-State as a serious contender in the race for Jones’ commitment. As the offers continue to roll in, it’s clear that Jones’ decision will be one to watch closely.
